Seo Braketrough -I show here how Google Successfully Searches In Flash Does this mean that we can rank for flash? Can someone analyze?
Nothing new, of course do they index flash, but to make flash pages rank well is quite a different story.
They have been indexing SWF files for a while now. The problem is having them fully index the content within that flash file and associating it with the page it's on AND getting that page to rank well. There are ways to optimize for flash pages though that have had good success without being black hat.
SE's can index site with flash but not as easy as what you think...hard to index meaning hard to rank your keywords...
Google and other search engines have been indexing flash for a while now. They'll never be able to index the text contained in flash files though, it's like trying to index text contained in a .jpg file - it just isn't going to happen. You can get around it in other ways though - using the <object> tag for a description of what is contained in the flash file is acceptable, as is using a z-layer according to Google
Ummm, search for filetype:swf, those are flash files and the text is indexed from all of them. Flash files can be decompiled to text, code and images unlike a jpg which can't.
The search engines, especially Google are improving slowly and learning how to index flash websites, yes .
Nothing great about it, it used to do it since last one year, but still there are limitations to it, but g is evolving
THEY CAN INDEX THE TEXT. Flash files can be decompiled, unlike image files. Search Google for 'filetype:sqf' and you'll see that they index the text from each flash file...
live-cms_com is right google can index all the text inside any flash file. try google advance search and select .swf file format from the File Format option... http://www.google.com/advanced_search?hl=en
I think previously SEs can't read flash but as they updated their algorithm they can now read it and index it....but they haven't declared yet that it can't rank well and as monfis said it is a different story... I can say that, I've already sees flash that ranks well but the webmaster optimized it well...
Yah but thats when viewing the individual SWF file results in Google. Find me a webpage that is being indexed and ranking well that has a SWF file on it as its main content and where the text from the SWF file is being indexed. I've seen it, but it's rare.
I'm not sure how that works. But if Google has trouble indexing flash on-page then I guess it's only viable to optimize full-page flash. The one thing which I still believe would be a problem though, is links in flash. I believe that Google can index the text but I doubt they could index links since they are not simple html links.
As I said before, it'd done using <object> tags and CSS, it's not possible for a spider to read the actual contents of an .swf file
they can read flash but they still depend on the page that the flash file is on and the links pointing to it to determine what the flash movie is about
Take this for example - http://www.photoart.ch/main3.swf It is rank 1 for 'filetype:swf'. The homepage has an object code to include it but doesn't anywhere have the text '<FONT FACE="tahoma" SIZE="11"' which Google uses as the description. So we must assume that was in the .swf, correct? I would decompile the .swf to check but I am feeling too lazy. You can do so if you like - Google 'sothink swf decompiler'. Maybe Google decompiles flash files similarly to this.
