$166 or so monthly actually, but thats not what is main usage is and would be stupid to do it just for that. Even though the ref="nofollow" tag doesn't exist I'm sure its internally set to not pass on pagerank.

$166 / mo is not bad for a PR7 link, and as Barry Schwartz pointed out at http://www.seroundtable.com/archives/015481.html, it appears that some Search companies are already taking advantage of this.

However, I am not sure I agree with the way people are portraying this as Google selling paid links. They aren't selling the link. They are selling a product, and mentioning you on their website if they buy it. It's similar to linking the names of clients who give you testimonials for your business or service.

Thats not to say that internally Google SE is designed to not pass on pagerank from Google.* pages.

    Appears to be that way.

But looks like the service is not aimed at the average Joe. I mean how many can afford the basic!! $1950 for online advertising unless you are one of the big boys in the industry.

OK here is another cost to consider:

The Google Mini is actually a piece of hardware you will be responsible for hosting. In light of that... Does anyone know a reputable company who will host a Google Mini?

I am using CSE Business edition but am strongly considering the Mini (not due to the link, but could be a nice benefit!)

The Mini offers a lot more control over crawling and results:

(Try the configuration Photo Links at the bottom of the article)

I will greatly appreciate any recommendations for hosting...Thanks in advance!

Way to many OBL, there are several high pr pages on the net that can be obtained by donation or in this case, buying a product.. but with so many out bound links, it's just about worthless as far as PR goes.

    cheers

That's true if you are looking for PR but a link from any Google page is going to carry a lot of weight.

Would help with SE ranking for sure.

Regardless why the links are there or the affect or intent, it appears Google does not follow there own advice. I seem to remember Google stating the the only way to "prove" a link wasn't bought/sold for the intent of gaming serps/pr is to use the nofollow. If a webmaster engages in the same thing they stand the chance of be penalized by G.

Kind of like when your were a kid..."Do as I say, not as I do"

    GOOGLE IS SO CORRUPT!

They set different rules for themselves than they demand from us. And what they are doing is basically accepting bribes.

The government should be investigating Google for the crooks that they are. The way they operate is way more anti-trust than microsoft ever was.

Again, your assuming outbound links from Google sites give rank, which I'm sure they don't. You don't see them as a backlink for any of those sites from what I can tell.
