Hello, A few sites are cloning the posts have been made on my forum. They are not cloning all content so i dont think google will consider the site as the original site. The blogs are obviously totally useless blogs with a few links and a few indexed pages. But what if google thinks that i am doing this thing myself and i own that blog myself or pay someone to do that. My forum is a very high quality forum, it is already a PR5 forum and i have big plans with that forum. That is why i am worrying about this issue. So what do you think. Should i stop this and how can i stop this? What can be the consequences? Anyone have similar experience before? Thanks.
you should try and email them and ask them to remove that - you only want them posting snippets otherwise you'll start to see some dup content issues. some of them will probably remove them but most won't - you can always threaten with c&d letters
If they are using the content from your RSS feed, then you need to fix your RSS feed to just deliver the (limited) content that you are willing to have syndicated. That's why I don't enable the RSS feed for my forums. No need to enrich MFA QBCers with my content.
But that is a good source of obtaining backlinks too. For example, i am getting tens/hundreds of links from technorati p/m since it assumes my forum is a blog when it sees the feeds. I will give an example post they have made: http://buildhome.consulting23.info/2007/11/28/naren/ http://buildhome.consulting23.info/2007/11/27/great-book-for-teenager-to-learn-java/ So what do you think? And what about DMCA? Is it easy to go with DMCA in this case? Is there any way to report this to the google? This is obviously a useless automated blog and i dont want to get any harm from google because of that.
I don't think you understand. When you publish an RSS feed, you are giving permission to people to syndicate (re-publish) your content. That is the entire point of an RSS feed. Backlinks like the ones you showed as examples are worthless IMO. Those automated blogs are set up to display ads and make money off of your content. Are you getting any traffic from them? The anchor text "here" certainly isn't helping your off-page SEO efforts.
Absolutely correct. Try editing your RSS feeds so that they only give a small snippet of the post. If you wanted you could have the RSS generator insert info into the < description > tag that says something like "User Whatsisname from MyForum.com says - (insert short snippet)", that way the RSS is usable for a real user, but RSS scrapers have to deal with the annoying message You could even get cute and alternate the 'annoying message' from the beginning of the snippet to the end, say "(insert snippet here) , says Whatsisname from MyForum.com". If you REALLY wanted to piss off the RSS scrapers, set the < description tag> to include all kinds of html!! (ever try to use a google news rss feed?? Ack!
seems like splogs are always wanting to steal my hard work I'll spend a couple hours writing nice blog post and then a month later I find my post ripped off on someone elses spam blogs
These splogs are getting into my nerves. Idiots keep on stealing all the hard work. I guess its about time i take strict action get them banned or loose their accounts. Only that will teach them a lesson. Report them to adsense, report them to google, report them to their hosting provider that they are stealing copyright content. Something should work out. time to fix RSS to annoy those loosers. any idea how to do it in blogspot?
lechers will always be here.. its really disappointing to see someone steeling your hardwork. I guess there is no way to manage xml feed in blogspot.
