How Long to get ranked on Yahoo?

Discussion in 'Yahoo' started by brasco, Nov 28, 2007.

    Hi All,

I started a new site in some really competitive market and I know that because of Google sandbox I can't expect to get any traffic from google in the upcoming 6+ months. I want to know how long does it takes to get ranked on Yahoo? In how much time can I expect to recieve flood of visitors from them? (with proper SEO and high quality links ofcourse)

    Thanks

It differers from time to time. I added a text-based, browser-based game and it took a few hours and it popped up 19th in the list and i added a web hosting website two days ago and still have yet to see results. I am unsure how long it actually takes. I think it can take up to a month!

Yahoo seems to make the rounds about every two weeks for lower ranked sites with inbound links.

Are you using Yahoo's SiteExplorer? I have found indexing is much faster if you use it properly.

So yahoo don't have some link againg algorhitm like Google? You instantly reap link benefits?

Any yes, I'm using site explorer and my site is fully indexed, it's just that it isn't ranked yet.

Well actually my Web hosting companies site gets indexed with Yahoo! a bit more than Google so with proper SEO skills & taking them into action, you can get good indexing from both Google & Yahoo!.

It all depends on the keywords you are targetting, it will always take time to get good rank for a competitive keyword whether its yahoo or google. From my own experience, It took approximately same time to get my website in the top ten in both yahoo and google for a moderately competitive keyword.

In different niches it's different. We have a unbanned in Yahoo website ranked within top 10 by "free advertising" term for example within one or two month.

yahoo is slow to rank pages. on the flip side you can hold a stable serp position for a long time.

Hello, yes, that is true Yahoo is slow to rank pages, but then your page will be VERY stables. I know you will get less traffic than Google, but really I prefer less traffic from Yahoo but stable than Google that maybe you are ranking top 2 then you lose the ranking, then you back, then you lose, etc etc etc.

I think it depends on how much traffic you get and your content.

I have an SEO Forum that gets hit by 38 yahoo bots about every two weeks. I started it about a month and a half ago, just before my son was born, so I haven't been able to update it lately. But when I was updating it, it seemed to be hit almost daily. If you want to be indexed, join the forum (signatures are follow) and I have enabled linking within posts, Yahoo should be hitting it again any day now. Just make sure you use keyword anchor text for what you want to rank on.

There are too many factors in it to just predict how long it will take for either Yahoo or Google to index it.

And don't expect to get a flood of visitors so soon either, because even if you get indexed, most likely you won't be at the front of the search results for a long while if ever.
