Do you guys use guerilla marketing to promote your website?

One of the methods I came up with is to create custom business cards for your website and then to secretly insert these cards into books at a local bookstore. Of course this would be best for websites or businesses catered to a local audience. It might be a little controversial but it's extremely targeted and you're in essence giving people a free bookmark. What do you think?

I wrote up some instructions for this stealthy guerilla marketing tactic here: Stealthy Bookstore Business Card Insertion Method

If used correctly, this can have a big impact for exposure for your business. Have any of you used or seen something like this before?

Haha, yeah it's a little bit controversial but I think if you do it discretely and don't overdo it, it could be very effective - especially if you have a niche business catered to a local audience.

Brilliant idea :) . You can probably do it at a few libraries - stick your business card in the "return" slot ;)

You could also get a bumpersticker with your website address on it and put it high up in the back window of your car or truck so it gets maximum visibility. Then you become a working advertisement everywhere you go. Better yet give them out on your website so others will become your roving billboards. Do this enough times and you can retire early. This was the idea behind bodywraps for cars and SUV's.
