How the Pentagon Subverts Media: The Real face of American Occupation of Iraq

Many people think this does not happen, cannot happen because USA is a democracy. But the truth is bitter.

Pentagon runs disinformation campaigns to portray America in good light at home and abroad. Here is an interview with Dahr Jamail, who has worked in Iraq as a reporter. He maintains a Web site, Dahr Jamail's Mideast Dispatches, with all his writing.

The interview below is taken from Antiwar.com

The US government is afraid that if the truth comes out in the open, it will antagonize the American public.

Most people do know the truth, but dare not accept it.

I'm waiting for the America-is-perfect-and-has-never-done-anything-wrong crowd to see how they try to spin this one into some sort of positive thing

Yeah! I wanted to know from die-hard US government supporters what they feel about the issue... Maybe they only respond when they can twist the facts. But when they have no answers, they won't even acknowledge.

Why, do you think this information is false? Do you believe "embedded journalists" got the whole picture?

I asked several members of the forum about how many civilians should die so they can be safe, and they refused to answer.

Most people who are poorly informed, talk in terms of "support the troops", "surge is working", "we are winning", "fight'em over there, so we don't have to fight'em over here".

But they are completely oblivious to the fact that 50 or 100 civilians die for every "terist" or "insurgent".

And of course, no one wants to see dead people, or have to feel anything about it. As long as the dead are unnamed, and have no faces, people here will continue to shop, and sleep well at night, knowing someone else is giving their life, to take other lives, so they can be safe.

    hello

religion is war and war is religion. this has been going on for centuries so i am not at all surprised. it happened in vietnam and ww2 , korean war , etc in every part of the world. in every part of society in every century.

the only thing that does not changes is how mankind kills mankind.:mad:

It's not the public, its these fuckers should be tried of war crime in next 10-20 years. This is not genocide. It's a Holocaust. Some people will be harassed like Nazi Officers living in US and then dragged into war crimes.

Then again, Armenian killing should be called Holocaust, but some people don't want to call it that way. Some like to monopolize the "word" Holocaust and don't want Holocaust "word" to be shared by other people. For them Holocaust "word" belong to them, not to any group of people who has suffered as much as them.

Also look into why Armenian killing was called genocide not Holocaust. Lot of lobbying.
