I don't know much about ad placement, but from a novice standpoint, it seems to blend well. Although its pretty obvious they don't relate to the article.

 

Nice placement. What i would suggest is to constantly change the placement of the ads. Because after a certain period, your regular visitor will get used to the placements and they will ignore the ads.

 

try making the url ( the lowest part of each ad ) black. this way the link will stand out more ( blue )

site looks great, placement is nice...one thing though the skyscraper ad at the left is too aligned left, ad space and align it with your navigation...
