I need someone to talk me through setting up the following detail page URLs like this:

    Instead of: biz-dir.co.uk/detail/link-147.html

    I want: biz-dir.co.uk/biz-page/directorydump-web-directory.html

I know how to change the links in the cats. but not the actual URLs.

I could also do with being able to change the URL of my submit.php page.

Anyone who can talk me through this can have at least $30 via PayPal.

Iv'e tried contacting him, he is not around and stop making me out to be some sort of cheap skate, I don't think Rob owns this particular mod and I would go to him if he was here any way, sometimes things need sorting.

I have done an alright job, I just need to sort this punctuation thing, what do I do in .htaccess Meth do you know?

using htm, why cant you just cloak the page once set up ?
biz-dir.co.uk/detail/link-147.htmlyou would set that as your page to cloak.

you would name it directorydump-web-directory.html and upload it onto your server in the files biz-dir.co.uk/biz-page/ ( place html cloak here )

    easy and cheap to do.

because that takes away the whole point of a content management system/static pages/ability to change a page from a cosy admin panel.

OK was just an idea, and yes could be painful for a whole directory, would not a CMS allow for page levels anyway ? eliminating this ? ie parent page

BTW: mod rewrite concerning link detail URLs.

Whatever people use for REWRITE in most cases they are not updating few other functions that still use old link URL.
As I could see hundreds of directories and files - I didn't find even one correctly and to the end updated.

Eg. if using link URL in email templates - the owner receives incorrect link and additionally BROKEN if it was not redirected to new URL.
So think more globally to avoid things that should not happen.

Dave and I are doing something completely different, so the thread can die now. It's going to require customizations and of course error handling and checking. But nonetheless, Dave is being taken care of.
