Sorry, I have no idea where to put this but I need some major help. Well I noticed my site getting 503 errors so I called and they told me I met my alloted amount of connections for any 1 time (100). So now I need to get Dedicated. But i'm thinking GoDaddy isn't the right place to go. I need MySQL DB and PHP! Can someone please help me. I only use about 500GB transfer a month and only need 2GB of space.
First step: find a new host and STAY AWAY FROM GODADDY. Second step, contact GoDaddy support. They're there for a reason.
You might be able to make do with a quality VPS. 500GB of bandwidth? Are you sure that is correct? Most vps and dedicated accounts are sold on a 5-1 or 10-1 basis (ie: 50gb space/500gb bandwidth) though custom plans are out there. How many sites are you hosting? Moving from GD to a cpPanel host can be an ordeal. The simple thing is to upgrade where you are and everthing stays the same.
I did, they tried pushing a Dedicated Server package on me. And I don't plan on going Dedicated with GoDaddy but I need some other hosting companies. And I need some help interpreting all of the hardware lingo
That's actually not entirely true. I just purchased a VPS from my web host, LiquidWeb, and I'm getting it for $50/mo and I get 400gb of bandwidth. It's a nice little addition to our network cluster.
This is my worst nightmare. I have no clue on what to do. I try and call a hosting company and I don't get true answers, they're like hungry sharks and i'm a poor little sea lion.
Godaddy host is pretty bad, you can try with a good shared hoster like hostgator or a little vps, one with 10gb disk and unmetered bw at 10mbps usually cost around 15 eur/month or less
Yeah, seems like they have quite a few good reviews too. I haven't personally used them, but please do let us know how it turns out for you. oh and fyi, the site is: http://steadfast.net/
GoDaddy hosting is something that you want to stay away from... I've heard to many horror stories. If your still looking for a decent host, look at Web Hosting Jury. They have user reviews from many different companies.
Right! And another gripe I had with godaddy is mod_rewrite. That ticked me off so much. I couldn't use phpBB on my hosting because the mod_rewrite feature was only a one way thing. Meaning you could only rewrite html to php, and not the other way around. I was very angry when I found this out.
I have a personal rule that I use and it seems to be working well for me. "do not use a company for services other than what they are designed to do." meaning, don't use a domain registrar as a webhost and vice versa, I would never register my domains with a web host. that's like buying after-market speakers at a car dealership. That's just a no-no. just my rule of thumb I guess
