Any directory owner interested in buying?

Hello,

Don't know if the market is down or there's no more directories buyer now a days

My directories are listed on Site Point forum for sale but got only $5500 highest bid. I want to know what could be the reason of low bid and no more?

I am in need of money and this maybe isn't the right time to sell?

Yes all together on my 3 directories it's xxxx a day in traffic.

 

People are becoming aware that traffic to directory is just webmasters browsing not those looking for resources on the web.

 

Yup mikey even alone my main directory is getting some-where 500-800 daily uniques.

 

Not really. I get tons of people from SE looking for something. Either colars or plastic surgeons. Of course webmasters are still THE ONE visitors but do not think there are no natural SE visitors. I am amazed how many actually

 

@iatbm how do u tell if its a se visitor and not a webmaster how do u distinguish ?

 

That's great. Have you done some research on which keywords bring you the most traffic?

I believe there's been a decrease in the interest of directory listings due to the recent weird behaviour of G, but should be back in a couple of months or at least once users realize web directories play a major part in the league.

I also receive many visitors direct on my listing pages. It's maybe because of search engines ranking or something.

 

due to one or two keywords searched repeatedly every day. Sure there are not so many webmasters looking for colars or plastic surgeon in some town every day
Of course you could never tell for sure but I am pretty confident what I say here.

 

Question was totally directed at iatbm only, i need to know how he distinguishes so i can learn how to do that for my sites too. It would be great addon to my knowledge bank.

@iatbm what keywords in particular were you talking about ? 'doctors' , 'medical equipment' etc. and r u using awstats(someone said to me its crap and nothing more) or google analytic?

 

No research but I add sites myself to the directory. Mostly to categories that do not get attention from submitters and those get attention from regular internet users.

many keywords : medical, architects, colars, waffle recipes .....

If you add websites on your own with good description then SE visitors will come.

 

stormy, it could be the time of year, only a month to go to christmas and people beginning to concentrate on their christmas expenses.

 

I agree. Let people have some fun and list it for sale at the end of January when they earn some money again-on January 2nd maybe

 

I'm gonna guess that the BIN of 18X could be a reason why.

 

I think 6-8 months of revenue is decent considering the market today.
