what is keyword research?

Hello. One of my clients is asking if i can do keyword reseach for him. Can someone please tell me what keyword reseach is. What we have to do in this job and please provide any related Urls for help if you have any. Thanks.

This is not a job sir. I'm just asking you to tell me what keyword research is.

 

Keyword analysis research plays a crucial part when optimizing a website to rank well in the major search engines. Targeted keywords that will convert a web visitor to sales is the ultimate goal of search engine optimization.

If you are selling a product online using your website, it is important to select keywords that bring in buying visitors rather than visitors looking for information. For example a client of mine has a website selling LCD TVs which is immensely competitive.
Instead of targeting to rank well for keywords such as LCD TVs which is too difficult and visitors is too general in nature. (At this time of writing, there are 2.14 million webpages competing for this keyword). I suggest targeting individual model no of LCD TVs he is selling on his website. For example, Sony Bravia KDL-V40XBR1

Keyword research is something like finding the popular keywords for your business. You can try adwords , yahoo overture and wordtracker to see how popular a keyword is

 

please provide me the link to keyword suggester google and yahoo tool about which you are talking.

 

You can use overture or DP Tool to get related keywords , if you want to rank TV plasma, maybe is hard, but you can search related keywords like TV plasma 52", etc etc... Use DP Suggest Keyword tool, this tool is very useful.

varunkrish is right but if you'll going to research keywords make sure that you'll going the find the best among the best make sure that the keyword has a high search traffic and especially relevant to your site.
