"America is in an existential crisis from which the nation may not survive."

The U.S. Army is breaking and is too small to meet America’s global commitments.

The dollar has sunk to historic lows and is being abandoned by foreign governments.

The State of Emergency - By Patrick Buchanan

He is a respected intellectual. He could have some valid analysis.

Well, in my opinion, the entire wold depends on USA, as it is one of the best markets out there. Amricans have enormous wealth, they can borrow more easily and they spend lavishly. The world wouldn't let go of such a wonderful marketplace.

If US economy is ever in trouble, which may not be true, then other countries like China, Russia and India will try to bail it out, by supporting the dollar, I don't know...

I dont think so, these countries would relish in the breakdown of the US economy, China and Russia especially, they are both wanting to be superpowers and wouldn't hesitate to take the US's place in the world if they got the oppurtunity.

Now as for America, we only have to look at history, everything rises and falls. Peoples always thought they were different and that the fate of previous nations would not apply to them but it always did. Egyptian empire, Roman empire, arab empire, ottomon empire, british empire, nazi empire, sovet empire and many more. The american empire is surely going to follow the same pattern of history.

By empire, ofcourse, it doesnt mean a republic cant be an empire. Any superpower that is geo-dominating, tells other countries what they can and cannot do and has its army bases all over the globe is an empire. http://www.libsci.sc.edu/bob/class/clis734/webguides/milbase.htm

Not sure about that, as US is one of the last in our trading partners list, that will be true with the countries who are in a "good" relations with US, it will impact them more I guess.

However, global economy is chained, it will shake everyone.

    C'mon now, be nice. :)

Buchanan is a maverick. His rhetoric is pretty close to Ron Paul's. I don't agree with everything he says, but he's truly an American intellectual patriot.

I think right now we depend on others more than they depend on us.

Buchanon is an interesting figure on the American political environment. He is the common man's right winger.

But it isn't all men. Buchanon has an extraordinary clarity and focus on promoting his kind of people....the White European background Americans. He makes no bones about it.

In that regard he represents one more perspective where a strong political bias supported with a perspective that his orientations are far superior to other orientations places himself on the pugnacious right.

As the nation changes, evolves, and adopts it is an end to the unique fiction that might be true for Buchanon but it isn't true for 10's and 100's of millions of Americans.

We must also agree that there is no empire that ruled the world (Romans, Babilons, Greeks and so on) more than a certain period of time....
