I don't like Mac with my experince with them. I like XP. Vista sucks. Everyone has a different perspective.
Who cares about hibernation...either turn your machine off or leave it on..all hibernation does is save a little battery. I never use it..when you close your computer that normally puts it to sleep mode, are you sure its hibernating.
I've almost read through this entire thread and I'm about to say that there are some very misguided remarks regarding the whole OSX vs Vista business. The first argument seems to be centered around the fact that Macs are faster and more stable than PCs with say an Windows OS with similar specs. This is of course; made without justification. How does one define 'faster'? Workflow wise or pure computational power? We have got to understand that Apple builds their machines with the hardware THEY choose; and base their software optimizations on those hardware sets. This obviously results in high stability and better performance since they seek maximum compatibility between the hardware and their OS. Now look at Microsoft. They have to create an OS which ensures high compatibility with the infinite array of different hardware specifications out there for PCs. Besides the occasional crash - they've done a pretty fine job of it. Try and install MacOSX on a PC with specs similar to a new Mac and will you discover abysmal performance and instability. Windows on a Mac will perform much better than MacOSX on PC (Search on Google for tutorials on how to.) So stop complaining about Microsoft's OSes and MacOSX. They are built on different underlying architectures; so most comparisons between the two are simply trivial - 'MacOSX looks better than Windows 95 blah blah blah.' Grow up people.
Exactly! You want everything to work perfectly? Get a mac! It is fully optimized and tested on the exact specs that you will be using. It will work perfectly!
@idiot How are you limited? What the flying f*** are you talking about? And in response to your second comment: Only if you're a naive moron who thinks Macs can't be upgraded ever. Macs are an interplay of hardware and software. You will never need to buy a new part for a Mac to make it run a single program. You get what you pay for. Santa Rosa chipsets are godly. All that aside, you can easily upgrade the RAM or hard drive on a Mac.
Why is this thread Vista vs OS X? Vista is useless, at least compare XP with OS X. I just got a new laptop with Vista pre-installed and its the most frustrating and useless piece of software I've ever used (Windows wants your permission to do this: ok? cancel?) so I'm trying to get XP installed at least.
As soon as Vista service packs come out you will be singing a different tune. This is just a natural MS release process... Bugs happen, they cant possibly fix everything before releasing. As for the permission issue, sure it may be more of a pain that just double clicking an icon to start a program but its for security measures. Vista is the next XP to be.
Permissions can be turned off by turning off User Account Control in User Accounts in the Control Panel.

Have fun trying to run half the apps made by smaller companies with OS X. Yeah, I know about that crossover crap but I've seen it used and it's way less efficient than just running a Windows system. Also, half of the PC games out there don't run with Mac, so again u have to use that crappy crossover program. I looked on the Apple website, and they don't have high end graphics cards in any of their systems (nVidia 8 series comes to mind here)..yet you say they have better hardware than PCs. You can't overclock a Mac, so you're limited to out of the box specs there. Most Mac users don't run AVPs, so when someone decides to write malware for Macs you're screwed. And don't even give me crap about how Mac's don't get viruses; the only reason they haven't had a major one yet is because there isn't enough of a user base to make coding the program worthwhile. Apple tech support is crap, and Windows is far easier to troubleshoot or find qualified, certified third party technicians. Mac's don't network well, so that's a limitation if you require that (most users do). Corporations don't even touch Mac's because they know that they're limiting themselves; being a dedicated Mac user in a Windows work environment will also be a disadvantage to Mac users. Is that enough ways OS X limits you, or do I need to give you more?
Ok most of what you said is bull crap. I was going to respond to all of it but then I read something my eyes could not believe. " Apple tech support is crap, and Windows is far easier to troubleshoot or find qualified, certified third party technicians." Number 1, Apple has one of the best support systems in the world! When you call support they give you somebody in the USA, at the very least. Second.. You're saying Windows is easier to troubleshoot? Have you lost your goddamn mind? Windows is the buggiest OS in the world and the worst part is that troubleshooting anything will make you want to shoot yourself. You turned that into a positive? Give me a break. http://thispagecannotbedisplayed.com
I use a pc because fl studio (the music software I use) is only compatable with pc. My buddy has a mac and I'm not that impressed
Microsoft doesn't have to provide tech support to most users because most of the time they do not directly sell the product to the user, but do so via a 3rd party (ie. Dell, HP, Toshiba, etc.). Also, compare Apple's tech support to Dell's. Apple doesn't stand behind their products enough to have a total "complete care" policy, where any damage, accidental or otherwise, is covered by the manufacturer. Dell does. That right there should tell you about the quality of the products being offered. Another example of crappy Apple tech support is the iPod, where, at least in older iPods, the battery would develop memory and fail. After this defect, which Apple conveniently forgot to inform consumers about, Apple's tech support division turned around and charged consumers ~$95 to perform a SIMPLE BATTERY CHANGE!!! If that's the kind of tech support you enjoy, then Mac all the way.
Never switching to MAC. Why would I switch to MAC? lets see; there less software for mac, hard to upgrade, fruity looking, all the specialty software made for pc and learning some new operating system. I would also argue the point about Mac are more reliable it certainly has not been my experience. The problem with PC is the manufacturer or the user that puts the components together. I think for Windows to recognize and many almost any component you put in to the computer is absolutely amazing. If you like editing you pictures with Photoshop then best of luck to you with Mac, I need to do more then just editing some pictures.
