Because you were complaining about people copying your idea, but you didnt really care anyway as you just went and sold it.

If I created an idea I thought was my own I would never sell

I think this thread was just opened so you could get traffic for your site.

No, because the person who copied it has more funding than I have, and were doing better. I can sell my site if I want to, ok?

Very nice product Hecky. I was interested with this a few months back &
decided, i did not have the prober place for the tool at the time.

A Big congratulations on sale of the .net version. It's nice to see builders getting paid.

Regaining an interest in the tool & doing my usual search quarry,
i stumbled upon the not only the .com face lift version but this thread as well.
Also, an interesting post from marketplacethreads.com.
and also from this sales pitch from sitepoint. This url is to Sitpoint market place.
    visit here;http://www.sitepoint.com/marketplace/auction/16301

If any knows and cares, why is the .com version up for sale already?

Not at all wanting to be involved with the political infringement you have encountered,
and indeed made for an interesting thread, i do hope legal things sorted out well for you.

    Hecky, or anyone,
My questions might be, that is if you even give a s**t anymore,
Dose the .com product still work? Dose it live up to it's creators expectation?
& would you still recommend it and it's functionality with this ever changing www ?

Or should i scrap this idea i have, with using such a tool?

    Paul'y.

Wouldn't this be a trademark infringement since the names sound so similar and they are doing the same product?

I like your site better and think over time it will do better. You don't need to be rich to promote a site on the net and with the rep you have on DP, you can promote it to its fullest with help from people on here. Also, their ad sense placement is trashy and their site doesn't even look as good. Also, I never go to sitez bcuz they got crass and cute un-spelled wordz bcuz itz like trendy or something. Yours looks way cooler.

wow that is a really good idea. Well most people would copy, atleast they should of contacted you before they thought about copying. Ask them for a cash or try to take them down. :D

Honestly, the only thing I find stupid is how he used basically the same name. Obviously there will definitely be people that are going to make similar sites. Just like someone was brilliant and created the whole "proxy" rage, and same with the image upload sites. Unfortunately, unless they stole your code... I don't mean to be rude, but I really don't see much of an issue since every unique idea is obviously going to be exposed and remade.

Thanks guys, my brother is starting up a new one and it's going to be really really good :). Many more features, and a better layout. I'll admit that the idea of going down the page is a little bit limited :(

I just started reading this thread from the start.

Robert, what about the fact that you admitted to copying his idea? What about the fact that you completely copied his website address only adding a "z" at the end to differentiate yourself?

You keep going on and on about him only being 13 years old. Does that mean a thief is not thief if his victim happens to be 13 years old?

    Regards,

    AO

Hecky, I wouldnt worry about it too much. Imitation as they say is the best form of flattery. He may copy you but you can always improve your original idea because you have the creativity and skills to put it together.

In this game on the web, you have think fast, act fast and move swiftly. You have developed a great product. For your next project, because you have a successful track record in development, seek some investment from either within your family/friends circle to begin with to pay for operational and marketing costs. Then when you reach a stage where your project is demanding a more time, effort and costs, find investors. Go to your local small business advice service and ask them for help, if not, your bank. They usually know where to find these people. By the time your 18, you can send nice photos of you in your new car, house etc to all those people who tried to copy you. If not, they will see you on the cover of "Wired", "Cnet.com" or some other major publication.

Keep dreaming mate and good luck! :):):)
