Alexa widgets always seem to work flawlessly. Unlike, a lot of PR buttons out there. I've got their widget posted for every link in my directory.

Yes, surfers need to have the alexa toolbar installed on their computer in order for their traffic to be counted.
alexa has not been accurate but if you still need the rank you can signup at alexa and also install their toolbar.
How many times must we have this conversation..... YES alexa isnt accurate, it is built from incomplete information. DO WE HAVE A BETTER TRAFFIC COMPARISON SITE? Well if there is I dont know it, which is why we continue to use alexa. Then continue to moan that its no good, then continue to use alexa, then continue to moan.......... and so on.
err - I dont know where to start on this..... alexa and PR are nothing, and I mean NOTHING to do with each other. PR is calculated predominantly by off site SEO, alexa rank is calculated by the number of people with the alexa toolbar that view a site, which is nothing to do with SEO, links or anything else, just plain old visits..... ....if your going to give out advice or make commentary please try and make sure that what your saying has some semblance to reality please
that is helpfull. i didnt know they had to have the tool bar. that is the dumbest idea i've ever heard???? maby not for alexa but it seems like to me that they are kinda shooting themselves in the foot
I got a programe that all you do is enter a ip range click go and all it will do is hit alexa as traffic a simple cheat that can run 24/7 showing huge traffic but with no 1 going to your site. laim but there are those out there that use it to get a good rank
Seems the higher the traffic I have the lower my rank gets.. with 12K uniques/day i was 16,000.. with 18K uniques/day im 21K :S Put on the widget to see if that will help.. i doubt it will.
Alexa earns few people any revenues so who cares??? Also Alexa is a webmaster tool and as such 99% of web surfers do not have the toolbar installed so counts are completely inaccurate. The two companies are not intertwined in any way and whatever you are seeing is a coincidence.
The funny thing about alexa that i have found is that if you have a img link on your pages that calls the same page as their toolbar you will get credit for each visitor. However i fully agree with everyone else here that, trying to pay attention to alexa is kind of worthless other than as a very basic way to assess a site, but is too easily tampered with to count for much if anything.
