Recently I had the Authority Directory Blog added to my site (thanks mikey1090). The reasons I added it were to allow for additional content, expand the possibility of site reviews and interaction with visitors to the site. I see that blogs are pretty common additions to directories, though some are definitely used more than others. I see some directory blogs with only a couple posts that have been around for months or even years. I thought I would get some ideas on additional uses for the blog and generating content from those of you that have blogs with your directory. How do you use your directory blog? How do you generate the content? Write it yourself, hire writers or some other way.
Blogs On Directories is useful as resources and a link exchange partner for your site. if you want to add directories to your blog, you must check if it give benefit from your blog. It is better that you write it yourself because you are the one who knows what you write about. You must identify what type of topic that usually visited by the readers.
I don't update my directory's blog very much at all... It's used more as an article directory and a news updater more than an actual blog. However, I will tell you that some of the articles are ranking in first for some cool keywords.
I think blogs are a good way to gain extra interest, I run a blog on my web directory and I usually write a few articles a month (2-3 usually) however I think it is a great way to populate your web directory by writing unique and well-written content. I write the articles myself, I've integrated my blog into my web directory so once you view my web directory you should be able to view latest blog posts, archive and so on. Great integration by the way, you can view my web directory in my signature Regards, Meti
I wonder , i've started a blog, but just the one post in 2 months as I am extremely tied up in other structural web work. It does look like a way to add useful information to a directory. The wordpress cms is very, very good
Blogs are a good way to attract visitors and also announce new changes or plans that you have made to the directory.
Depends what you add. If you ad generic BS and just post for the sake of it then you'll get no return. If you add quality posts which are of BENEFIT to your readers than it will definitely help you.
LINK Well one of the additional uses is it gives others more oportunities to promote your site, as we are listing you soon i have added your blog ( see demo in the link ) press refresh. in that it will run at the bottom of all related support pages and will also get a redirect to your site from our blog catagory.
This idea sounds good and i started my new blog on directory, but it is hard to write some article.) I will copy my posts from dp to my blog i think... Maybe you can help me about content, what i must to write on? http://www.acotm.com and my baby http://blog.acotm.com (subdomain is better i think)
I forgot to give the screenshot but when I check your blog it had some errors in the sidebar for the categories and blogroll but its fine now .
For those interested- It appears that google is not indexing blogs as it used to. Either your blog is not index or most of your pages are no longer indexed or dropped from search results. oohh well, Have Fun!!!
I think you're right, I used to manage a blog that wasn't updated frequently, and I was amazed how fast Google indexed each page however not, I manage a blog on my web directory and it doesn't seem to pick up each page, but it is quite ok. It has a few pages indexed so far. Regards, Meti
Right now I am being realistic with myself and my commitments by saying I will update the blog once per week. It may end up being more often than that though. I also post frequent articles within the directory itself. So there is a pretty steady stream of unique content going into different places within the directory.
Hi Swedal, Great looking directory you have got there. Just made a comment on the blog too I am currently compiling a list of Best Paid directories and would love to add your directory there. As far as your question is concerned, I was having a directory on subdomain on my health article site. Honestly there wasn't much response, may be because I didn't promoted it too well.
