I have been pondering putting ads on my website www.bestsoftworks.com. Traffic is picking up on it. I have also broken into page 1 in my keywords "phone dating" which depending on if it's a allinanchor or allintext searches it's up against between 10,000 and 311,000 other hits. If you type in "phone dating" without anything extra, there are 44M hits and I'm still in page 1. The problem is that it's a software business and I'm afraid that ads would make the business look less professional or make it seem like the product is less important. I understand the concept of ads for service sites. What's your opinion on ads on a product site? If you think ads are appropriate, what type exactly so that max revenue from traffic can be accomplished without detracting from the main site purpose? David Beyer
You are a webmaster after all. Of course it is appropriate as far as your services/products are free. If you are providing any kind of premium services/products on your site i dont think there should be any ads on your site.
Exactly. My products are not free. That's been my thinking up until now. The conversion rate on my site is naturally very low. It's normal because of the type of product and price. It's a shame to see traffic not converting go to waste though. David Beyer
