A few friends of mine have been talking this and got me on the alert, are video download sites like keepvid illegal? My point of view was that if it was illegal why is keepvid still up. One other subject is about google adsense. Can these kind of websites use google adsense? I read the Terms of Service and all and didn't see nothing specific about it but still maybe someone knows something more about this. I'd really appreciate your help on this. Thanks in advance
I think they are legal because not all videos on youtube are copyrighted.. I don't see a problem with them running adsense imo.
not illegal but no adsense. So if you think of making such a forum I suggest selling adspace here on DP or elsewhere.
It's only FEDERALLY Illegal, so they won't do anything unless you get as successful as Napster. But why make money off of other people's work? I download some things I would never be able to afford, but I couldn't ever make a profit off of sharing it. Maybe you have a non-profit site. I'm not your judge. But, non-profit would definitely help you legally as well.
oh, reading the post more closely, sounds like you're not talking about a napster site. Something new with youtube that I don't understand yet. Sorry if I sounded like an ass lol.
Why wouldn't adsense be allowed? It's allowed on file hosting sites when people could be uploading the same kind of material..
If they are illegal.. Then I would be screwed with my network of 10 sites to watch movies and shows online lol. Simple fact. They arent illegal for Canada. or USA YET but they are trying to make it illegal. I have seen many of my favourite sites shut down or stop having video links I dont understand why.. Such as: tv-link.co.uk (always hated this site after they crashed my server on my video site) mydigitalshare.com familyguyx.com so many more.. Adsense is not allowed Though I wish it was considering I was making a ton of money until FOX came along.
When copyright comes then it depends on owner, would he gives permission to redistribute or not, depends on the person. If wrong correct me. Thank's
Yeah, sounds pretty complicated. I know how frustrating it can be living in fed law limbo Not fun, especially if you believe what you're doing is a good thing.
I guess this is coming down to the same old story about copyrights. I can record a TV show and keep it for me, maybe use litle bits on private projects but I can't use it for professional or for profit purposes. I'm not promoting or breaking any copyright laws. The website just shows videos from youtube that the youtube users upload... Does anyone know a web page that clearly shows that adsense is forbiden in this sort of websites?
