I am developing a new website that will hopefully be ready in the next two-three weeks to begin promoting and building backlinks. The site will focus on 5 areas of Finance - Debt and Credit, Insurance, Real Estate, College Planning, and Investing. These five categories will have there own subfolders, with each have 5-7 subtopics. My question is this, I want to drive traffic to all the various categories and subcategories. Should I just point all the backlinks placed to the homepage, or divide them up between each topic (pointing some of the link to the category folders and subfolders) For example: www.domainname.com - Keyword for homepage in link www.domainname.com/category/ - Keyword for category in link www.domainname.com/category/subcategory/ - Keyword for subcategory in link Is this the best method to build search engine traffic for a brand new site with many broad topics? HM
Ok, first of all, let me just tell you something. If you want a better Page Rank to get good traffic from Google, you will want to build links. When building links, most of them will be directories that no human will ever look through, only Search Engines. However, if you want traffic (you're not going to get much using links) you want to post the links on the main page or try banners (usually flash or such).
Banner is the least effective method of promotion which can I imagine in this topic They are mainly good for music-entertainment related sites. @hmilesjr: Your url's example is pretty fine so stay on this way. It's a very hard topic You got so get interested in links exchange and professional promotion programs. Good luck.
Direct link - thought by some to not look "natural" by G Deep link - thought to be more natural in appearance to G. This makes sense if you think about it. You think millions of people all over the world go to one website and all of them link to that site in the exact same way? NOT.
Alright now thats a nice question and the answer to it is pretty complicated and diverse. i will answer a simple as i can. having all links to one page would be pretty good if your trying to increase your Page rank, will be less effective with keyword promoting. for example. having subcategory like lets say the main website is www.finance.com and you have a subcategory at www.finance.com/bankruptcy and then link to it with the desired keyword would work better then. having many links toward www.finance.com with different anchor/keywords would be less effective. simply because www.finance.com/bankruptcy would contain more keyword in your page then the main page. so what i am saying. if your looking to increase traffic and to increase your serp for certain keywords i would have many subpages and link to them with my wanted keywords.
