What happens if paypal deletes your account?

I've heard about paypal deleting accounts for some pretty bogus reasons so I'm just curious. If paypal deletes my account, will I lose all of my money on my account?

Well, for one thing, Paypal never deletes accounts. They may limit the account but never a deletion. When an account is limited, they will ask you to send in documentations and once all is verified, it would be released. There can be a few reasons such as :-

    1) they see that your details does not match your IP and would ask for documentation such as utility bills and government issued ID.

    2) that your credit card details is suspicious and they will ask for your credit card statement.

    3) that the transaction is suspicious and ask for you to submit invoices and proof that you own the product which you are selling. They may ask for proof of physical delivery.

If they are satisfied with the details, they will lift the limitation and you are as good as new.

If they are not satisfied with the details, they may ask for further verification and if that fails, your account with goes into permanent limitation. However, they will lock your balance for 180 days in which time your customers have the opportunity to raise a dispute and get their money back. Usually this happens if they determine that there is some fraud involved. If after the 180 days, you may withdraw your funds via a check or a bank account but you will not regain the use of your account. If however you provided fake name and address then you probably will not see your money. If the name and address are correct then you can withdraw the funds.

Yup you pretty much loose all your money there but they don't delete your account outright, your account will just get limited.

If you doing something wrong and against their TOS then you deserve to lose all of your money :p Lol.

I don't think so that they delete your account suddenly (they give you limited access if they found something wrong).

That's true... you might have received phishing messages or emails. Paypal don't delete accounts just like that.

Paypal cannot delete an account but they will limit it if they find a reason to do so. However, a lot of the time they have pretty crappy or crazy reasons.

You guys are very nice with Paypal :)

The limitation of an account for verification purpose is one thing

The termination of an account is another thing

Yes. Paypal can terminate an account.

Why ? You are an affiliate of a pharmacy online seller (for instance) -this business is supposed to not be allowed by Paypal-

If the account of the pharmacy online seller is stopped (and it should be as it is not allowed), the accounts of the affiliates can be stopped too

Why ? Because as an affiliate you sold pharmacy and got money from this business through the affiliate program and Paypal

Put adult business instead of pharmacy and so on

    :)

Of course if the business which offers an affiliate program which is prohibited by Paypal then it would be deemed as unacceptable. Thus you really need to read the Acceptable Usage Policy and be sure that you are not a party of any of such activities, directly or indirectly.

    I don't find a problem with this.

But dear eddy2099, when this affiliate program uses Paypal to pay affiliates for years and is making big money (and even has pharmacy keywords in its name) I do think that sometimes we can have some doubts about Paypal real policy

You are not right benpolska - Not only limited access

And even after a successful verification process you can get suspended for many reasons (you live in a country and you have a bank account in another country, you connect from various IP because on holidays or on business trips, you live in a country and have your company in another one ... etc ...)

The worst thing is that you pay or receive a payment from a scammer - some members of DP for instance ;) -
You can get your account suspended for this reason

Don't believe all the nice guys who claim that Paypal just limits accounts sometimes

There are many other problems ... Check it out ;)

no you will never lose your money. it will send you your money after 180 days. but yes paypal dont delete a account. but they LOCK the account. locked account is different from limited access. but it only happens when too many reversal was made from you by your cusotmers.
