I have a question about this tip: 54. When you write a new article on your site – link to as many blogs as possible – they will likely see your site in their pingbacks, website stats, or Technorati. They will visit your site and possibly subscribe to it and link back at a later date.

Do I need a blog in order to do a pingback, or will this work on an HTML page as well?

Thats what johncow.com did. He took a misspelling of johnchow.com and made his own blog and now he's making 1000s every month. It didn't take much for him to get started, on day one he was getting 8000 visitors a day or so, as you can see from his alexa. I have no idea how else he could do that without losing money.
