Anybody thinking of it? Google will also like it and there would no upside downs like we witnessed in recent past.
http://landudno.co.uk is a nofollow directory. To become follow, supply a backlink to us (and be accepted, of course )
I'm not even thinking about changing my web directory to nofollow mode, nor will I ever. It isin't a really bad idea, though I see no point in doing this unless you have a very high traffic web directory. Meti
Incidentally, I'd like to point out that even as a nofollow, free directory, we still get over 50 submissions a day, of which about 10 get reciprocal links
I think that it is not a good idea, Unless you have amazing traffic to your directory that will make ppl to submit to your directory even after a no-follow on the links.
Would never even consider changing just to bow down to Google - there are other search engines out there that are equally as important.
No reason not to have nofollow links option in your directory, eg free nofollow or regular (follow) paid. Can work in some niche directories as its still worth submitting for the targeted traffic. This meets G half way.
I would advice to clearly state that your directory offers no-follow links otherways it's like fouling people. I couldn't find any mention on the homepage or submit page... This is a fair and honest way to inform everyone about the specific of your directory. This thread remembers me that a while ago I have submitted two links to a very popular (paid) directory at that time just to find out after a couple of weeks later that the links were no-follow. PMed the guy and he replied like..."you know...your bid amount is not high enough to make the link do-follow." (well...something like that) Obviously nothing was stated anywhere...if I knew probably I would never waste the money on that... so please state in your directory - this is the fairest way to run your business Thank you
i am interested in knowing the same..it is the standard of "do as i say" that has dictated people for generations..LOL..No im not using no-follow
Well, how not nofollow benefit a user? While Google (have more than 60% of search share) doesn't like it so realistically no benefit to expect in SERP.
No i wont be considering it, they change their minds again afterwards, you send out the wrong message to them and everyone else and it becomes another obsession that results in distracting the directory owner from other things. Googles Motto: You are free to do as we tell you. Never before in the world of business has there been such conformity, such fear, and the fact that you can easily lose an income so quickly. Im all for playing the games of the search engines, to survive, but you shouldn't give away every last right that yu have left. Its better to meet them half way, and keep your message clear.
I'd like to know where the information came from... nofollow directories gained rank? I have 4 directories, 3 gained PR, 1 lost... all of them are follow... What basis do you have to declare that directories that have nofollow will rank higher?
