I am wondering whether I am allowed to register .asia domains. Any idea? Any way? Some people say I could not register until february. Is there any way to get around this? Any registrars helping to overcome this hurdle? thanks
i don't know either... i wanted to register orkut.asia but some of my friends told me that i can't do that yet and it's illegal to register a brand name.
Yes you can register , but hurry up . God names still are. Nosfer your friends not so clever if they talking like this sh**T . Because you can get branded domain if it free. This is not America.
Actually you can get in trouble for registering TM domains....and besides, the big companies get to buy domains before the public can, so you won't get it even if you tried.
I can get you any domain if it free just contact me including .asia and other asians domains like .cn and so on , width europeans are the same situation i can get any of them . Have access to upcoming new extensions also
I believe they're only taking pre-registrations at this point & the popular names will be auctioned off to the highest bidder
You can give your application to godaddy Price - 19.95$ a year + ICANN fees* (Minimum 2 year registration) Application Fees - 100$ Non refundable *Am not sure of it
i'd say they are pretty expensive. i'm waiting for them to launch "sex" or "xxx" extensions... i think those would be a great hit and i'd register many of those.
Myself im just waiting until Feb 08 when they can be purchased normally, i have until then to figure out how i deal with the country that i live in not being on the list of countries and how i go about still making the purchase, but from what i was reading on another forum it seems it wont be too much of a problem.
The asia domain names will be sold in a bidding process, domains who are applied by several entities will be awarded to the highest bidder
You need to wait until Feb when the landrush opens up to all people.. Now, its primarily for the TM holders and costs a bomb. the actual price is around $15
Just wait for the public opening sometime in February 2008. I suggest that you don't buy copyrighted names because it's just a waste of time and money.
This have been announced in nov 4 by this blogger: New .us.com and .Asia domain extensions I think there is other option than godaddy "pre-registration". Even you can save 15% of all your orders with this coupon code: Googlelady
You cannot register them with Godaddy right now unless you own a TM with the same name or it's part of your corporate identity. You have to have a contact in Asia on the registry records and it has to be an entity (not a person). If you have the contact, you can do a pre-registration with Godaddy. I already looked into all of this. You can, however, go to hostway.co.uk and they use a Austrailian Proxy for the required contact (you select that option). They don't charge unless they get you the .asia domain. Austrailia is part of the .asia group of countries. I pre-registered 2 .asia domains with them and I'm in Florida. Prices were cheaper than Godaddy too I believe. David Beyer
Now is only open to backorder. Then these names will goto auction and the highest bidder wins. After this period, then it will be available to the public for registration and alot cheaper too.
For people asking questions recently about .asia extensions, see my previous message in this thread. I have pre-registered multiple domains with them. I also own 2-3 .eu's, .uk's, etc. so I know the company is legit and works well. They don't charge the .asia fees upfront - only if you get the domains after the prereg is over. They can be your asia representative (entity) so that you meet the requirements.
