    Hello,

(First of all dear moderator I picked this forum as am not going to sell here or not asking for a review of my site)

Two days back.. I listed my domain at sedo.com and marked as for sale... even though I dont intend to sell that in the near term... but today i got an email...

Do you think that this is a genuine email or is that a fake one?

    Anyone received a similar email?

And if that email is legitimate then how should I calculate its value??? So that i will ask them and if they agree that I maynot sell that as it means that its worth some money........ Please help me!!!!

I did a google search and got this site http://blakeyrat.com/ so is this another scam?

Well, you have a very good domain name - minterest, as it is more or less a dictionary word. Just reply with your price you want for it, I'd say $200+ (I'm not a pro), or ask them to make an offer. If they are fake, then they won't buy it, and you've lost nothing.

I suggest asking them to make an offer. If they want you to get an appraisal, then say goodbye...

Ask THEM to make an offer, and if you're not satisfied with it, don't take it.

I don't know if it is the case here but there is a scam involving domains where someone selling a domain is approached by a third party expressing an interest. The bottom line is that the third party asks for the domain to be 'valued' but 'they will only trust company-x as they have dealt with them before'. Company-x charges some ridiculous price for the valuation and the sale never happens. It's a ruse to get a domain seller to get their domain valued by company-x and part with the cash.

    Dont sell under $1000-1500 IMO
Also ask them to deal through sedo only as they may scam you later (If they are scammers)

Sorry to say, but it looks like your typical appraisal scammer, just with a slightly modified email of their original scam email. You can reply to them, but if they mention anything about an appraisal so they don't overpay, it's a scam

I got the same email for a domain I listed for sale on ebay, however below the email there was a disclaimer that I'm not allowed to disclose or quote the email publicly, so I won't do that - but the wording was almost exactly the same and as far as I can recall the name of the company and the person was identical too if I remember correctly.

Since the domain is on sale for ebay with a fixed price offer and I'm not advertising it elsewhere, it must be scam - cause the price is already on ebay.

    Hey,

Thats not a dictionary word..... Actually it has got many meaning...

First I gave the meaning... Mahesh's or My Interest

then I changed that to Mahesh's Internet and Investment

and finally to Money, Internet, Investing

    (Mahesh is my Name)

$200 is very low... Actually I made over $3500 last month from this blog.... Anyway that wont happen again....

Yes, thats what am thinking also.. but I just wnat to find the true value of my business as a whole... so thta i can raise some funds... not because I need that but just to raise money so that when I earn money my shareholders also earns some money.... :)

    And again,

I do think that its a scam........ Because... some months back I got an offer for my domain www.infomatrics.com and he asked me to appraise the domain... so that he gets commission.. I replied that i dont want to to any appraise and i want $1000 i didnt see any main from him :D

So am going to ask say some 25,000$ and let me see his response :D Anyway I wont sell that domain even for $25,000 as I just started that blog in August... and havnt invested any money in it.. but I will be doing that in the comming weeks and months.....

usually, a fair price for selling is 10 times the earnings from one month. so if you've got 3,500$ last month you can sell it for 35k $ explain that guy what was your proffit and from what i've seen Minterest.net is available. i don't think he would offer that much when he can register .net .org .us .co.uk .info .biz with less than 10$.

PS: if you're earning that much/month try registering all extensions for your domain

Seems like an appraisal scam to me. Just mail them and ask for an offer. Or you can ask for a decent price. After this if they want you to get an appraisal certificate just ignore the whole issue and move on.

but it wont happen again.. that was for one month only.. and that too was my luck...... with some effort.....

Also, I think its good for me if someone registers a .net version.. because he will promote that domain and his visitors may visit minterest.com by mistake... And also I dont think that anyone will register that domain as its not a dictionary word...... Anyways its my guess.... Thanks......

yeah, your domain name sounds cool ;) i think it sounds better than minternet ;) My interest => M'interest... sounds great ;) i think you should stick to it, and try doing more. you could add a forum and other features. try making it more proffesional.
