How do you decide a category for a site? whether you do look at the keywords of the site or it's content ?

As some times it would be very difficult to decide a particular category for a site..

I agree with you, things may get quite hard at some web sites. I believe the best way is to go through the web site, and your directories category and choose the most appropiate category in your opinion.

Since it is your own web directory and you're well aware of the category structure, I believe nobody but you are more familiar with your structure. I would choose the category I find most appropiate for the certain web site.

I aim to have a category to cover every possible site. Use the sites content to make your decision.

You can do it by checking the topmost directories like dmoz.

I always create a new category if i don't have one suitable for a particular submission. I look at the content of the site to determine it's category.

Most of the directories have More Categories. We have to select the appropriate one to our website or choose the nearest one. Even some directories ask us create a New Category.

Depending on the site, it might fit in more than one category. In my case, I've allowed for that where folks can have up to 3 separate listings.

If the site is indeed quite general, it can go at the top level category or in the case of Crafty Tips, I've created a category called, Crafts in General for those sites that cover a wide range of things or their inventory changes quite a bit.

There's a number of ways to handle this and the answer somewhat depends on how you have your site set up.
