Last night I created a new Ad Group with about 15 or so KW's each set to .10 or .15. In the first two hours they drew 43,000 impressions and 65 clicks. Now this morning every last one of them went inactive with a min bid of $10.00 to make them active again. What gives? Will these become active again after say, 10:00pm or so? I am not sure I understand how it works.
I had a buzz word in my ad text that was not relevant so I fixed that. They were all my best keywords. Because most of them are industry shop talk, they are crucial to my campaign and I insist on using them. Here is an example of what I have... I sell high end audio equipment for recording studios. My ad text says “Recording Studio Gear,†my Landing page says “Recording Studio Gear,†(at least 27 times,) and my keyword is “Recording Studio Gear.†My keyword analysis page says Quality Score = POOR “Our system shows that users don't find your ad or landing page relevant when searching on this keyword. To attract customers and reduce costs, try using other, more relevant keywords.†Duh!!! Ok, I’m confused. I have 21 other keywords that are all just as relevant, in my opinion. I cried to Google and they basically said I need to either improve my Quality Score or raise my bids. Does everyone pay $10.00 per click?
No not everyone pays 10 bucks a click, unless you have a serious margin to work with or through the roof conversion. You stated the issue in your previous post, the quality score is what has shut off those keywords. That's a mix of a.) You landing page quality (that's good your kw is in there a lot but what else is there for the visitor to see? Article? Images? Product catalog? G's been hitting catalog shopping and comparison shopping sites harder) b.) bounce rate (if your visitors aren't sticking to the site for anytime at all and are hitting the back button right away then this will hurt you as well, do you have analytics installed to track that?) How about targeting particular products? could you go after brand names i.e. mackie, Berringer, digi design etc.? Depending on what you're product offering is I think you'll find that the broad kw will get you a ton of traffic, but your conversions will be better with more targeted kw's.
Quality Score calculation is based on CTR% too, but there is no fixed limit value that your keyword will be disabled if reaches bellow this value. keywords min bid of $10 normally means landing page quality issue.
So, you think the problem is with my site? Wow, I spent months and months developing that site. (proaux.com) Many of my keywords are all though it. All my keywords are about the audio industry, the equipment, its uses, and the shop talk. At last check, every last keyword in all 6 ad groups are inactive and demanding $10.00. I'm sorry, I am just not seeing their reasons for penalizing me and forcing me out of my own campaign.
I've been doing some digging and reading. I think I found my problem with the extremely low CTR. I have deleted the single keyword that drove up the impression count so high yesterday. It was apparently far too "broad." But now the damage is already done. How do I get my other good keywords to become active again without paying $1000/day? Is there any way to reset that CTR and start over? ...Or is my entire campaign cursed?
Now i guess this one is a classic example for an Adwords newbie (I know I'm stuck with the same issue of this 'inactive keyword'). I'm keeping my eyes peeled on this one.
Do your keywords have mispellings with them? Are your keywords related? Do you use your keywords on the title of your add? What is the competition? Your bid might be too low. Deleting the keywords and write a new ad with the keywords in the title. Make sure they are related keywords with no misspellings. And no they will not become active unless you want to give google $10 per click which you do not have.
No they will not become active. Answer this questions: Are the keywords related? Are misspellings in the keywords group? Did you use the keywords in the heading of your ad copy? What is your competion? Try this: delete the keywords, rewrite your ad copy with the primary keyword in the heading of the ad copy. Re enter the keywords, remove misspellings, make sure the keywords are related, increase your bid a little. Don't do this: dont pay google $10 per click.
