Here we go again. "We've got the players we should be winning things, after all, we invented the game and we won the war. Sack the manager."

I'm 50 and I've heard that every time England screw up from Poland in 1973 to last night against Croatia. In an ever-changing world it's nice that some things stay the same. Yes McClaren was out of his depth, but just changing the coach won't make us world-beaters. The problem goes deeper than that, right down to kids' football.

Sure the problems are everywhere but McClaren was hopelessly inept at this level and the players had zero commitment, mix these 2 elements together and the results were inevitable

    I was expecting that.
Nobody really liked him, lets see who will come in his place.

So, McLaren ends up going the same way as Graham Taylor.

He is qualified as a coach, but his style of playing didn't really suit England well. That disastrous 3-5-2 in Croatia, and the 4-5-1 yesterday night. A negative, defensive, confused mindset.

And he didn't really have the courage to make big decisions. He did attempt one yesterday, by dropping Robinson and playing Carson, but unfortunately for him, it never worked out.

The Croatia manager admitted that should McClaren had gone 4-4-2 the result would probably have been different. Crouch looked lost up front on his own, and I felt sorry for him, took his goal great though and really hope he leaves Liverpool to get 1st team action more.

The players should take some of the flak but at the end of the day the manager picks the team, and sets the tactics. He just didn't have the mental power to make big decisions at the right time (I think he got most of his decisions from the press anyway). Had to go, no doubt.

The next guy is going to have to have parachute ballsacks!
