Don't let the hypocrites fool you. Sexual slavery is big business in the Middle East. In Arab countries women are forced into prostitution. "The Islamic fundamentalists in Iran have for example expended tremendous amounts of time and efforts controlling, harassing, and punishing women and girls in the name of Islam. In Tehran, there are an estimated 84,000 women and girls in prostitution, many of them are on the Streets, others are in the 250 brothels that reportedly operate in the City. The trade is also international. " http://www.iranian.ws/cgi-bin/iran_news/exec/view.cgi/2/2675 Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar and Oman were four of seven newly blacklisted countries on the State Department's list of 16 worst offenders in human trafficking. Algeria, Equatorial Guinea and Malaysia also were listed for the first time http://saudiamber.blogspot.com/2007/06/report-exposes-hypocrisy-of-gulf-arab.html Pakistani girls forced into prostitution in Middile East. "Most of the victims are between the age of 11 to 13 years and are smuggled to the Arab countries where they are forced into prostitution in Middle East" http://www.ansarburney.org/news/n90.html
Under the Taliban's rule in Afganistan prostitution increased. The Taliban were disliked by the prostitutes because of their rough manners, not paying enough or threatening as they left the brothels and sometimes they enjoyed torturing the women working there http://www.rawa.org/rospi.htm
I read yesterday that the court is now also investigating the woman's lawyer, and he may face some sort of punishment as well for talking to the media. Free Speech?? Just throw it out the window.
The lashing is just a cover-up for what is really going on in Saudi Arabia. The mullahs don't like the attention. You have to figure that in a country that the men are ready to jump on any female walking alone that there must be some serious sexual slave trade. Women from Yemen, Morocco, Pakistan, Nigeria, Ethiopia, and Tajikistan were also trafficked into Saudi Arabia for commercial sexual exploitation; others were reportedly kidnapped and forced into prostitution after running away from abusive employers. http://gvnet.com/humantrafficking/SaudiArabia.htm
You mostly speak BS bogart, with your childish propaganda, you just google crap and hit something that sounds inline with your doublestandarized agenda. Lets see what your source says about the most civilized nation on earth.... http://gvnet.com/humantrafficking/USA.htm http://gvnet.com/humantrafficking/Israel.htm
Sexual explotation is a world wide problem. But due to the nature of the 'Burka' countries women are partically vulnerable to abuse. In the US and Israel women are not lashed and stones to death. I wonder how many of the maids that the Saudis bring in from countries like the Philliphines and India are really sex slaves.
Nobody says that USA dont have big problems, but we are not discussing that here. Why are you pointing at other countries when Saudi Arabia is being criticized? That any others countries are bad does not make SA any better. If the best argument you have is pointing at other countries you should just keep your mouth shut. Come with some real arguments if you can.
I think the difference here, Ace, is that most folks condemn the wrong that does happen, wherever it happens. Most would say, for instance, that maintaining sexual slaves is a crime, and it doesn't matter whether it happens in my backyard or yours. That it happens doesn't speak to whether we believe it is right or not, only that the ability to catch the scumbags isn't as great as we would hope it would be. On the other hand, you have indicated this girl deserved to be whipped, for getting into a car with a stranger. I would hope you would see the difference.
I blame the adult males of this world for their apathy. Most of you are so busy sipping your friend wine and saying stupid things like 'I'm the creator'(wtf?) to be of use anymore, so I just kind of wonder around, see just how pathetic the older males on this planet are so I can learn better for the next time around... Although not all are bad, I met a cool indian programmer guy!
Uh, little brother, the "creator," "all one" Age without age" were in response to an oddly funny thread. But I actually now regret my posts. Beginning with And since seeing your many other rapid-fire contributions (your thread, your politicians are evil aliens that have mastered mindcontrol, for example), I found that while you've got passion in spades, and I credit you for that, you're posting little else but the faintly amusing conspiracy "theory." I hope one day you find a good path to exhaust your energy.
Regardless of gender or whereabouts nobody deserves to be abused or harmed under any law for conversing with the opposite sex. Saudi law's are inhuman and need to be prioritized and addressed to modern standards we don't live in history anymore. I also find woman are more vulnerable to any form of punishment whilst the men are are given a wink in the same situation. Where is equality ~ ? I accept the defense that the laws are there to protect woman in this predicament however the laws seem one sided and harsh and strip woman of all freedom.
Abdullah reportedly spares woman in sex-assault case from jail and lashes http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/22293189/
As if there ever should be a need for a pardon in such a case.. What a sick twisted group of people..
There's no pardon. The Saudi king his only suspending the lashing. The Saudis want to sweep this under the rug and avoid any more attention on thier laws and justice.
true, but I read earlier that it is a full pardon...will search for that link...it said that the king did it after "international outrage"...ya think?
