Most of you know this, but for the new guys trying to build backlinks..remember this tip. When you're commenting on other people's blogs it will usually ask you for 4 things, your name, email, URL and a comment. Be sure to use your keyword anchor text as your name. When your comment is posted, the url you enter will be attached to whatever text you entered in the "Name" field. So instead of putting John in the name field, put My Widgets Rule, or whatever your site's keywords are. Oh, and try to say something that's somewhat useful in the comment section, so it doesn't look like 100% blatant spam. Happy Holidays. Christian
you call this an stupid trick.you must be joking.its an great tip.thanx for sharing and happy holidays to you too.
Yes, that is a great tip. I always do comments that way. Everyone who reads his advice pay particular attention to the part about writing something useful and relevant in the comment. Blog owners are much more likely to approve your comment if it is relevant. You might be surprised how many 'comment writers' put in a bunch of irrelvant 'crap' to try to get a backlink. Remember, the only cost of your new backlink is a the few moments it takes to write a meaningful comment. You will also want to keep the name part on the short side, dont just throw in a bunch of keywords. christian231 definitely deserves some green rep love for this helpful advice (hint hint nod nod wink wink )
Good tip, but as I blog owner I'd be more suspicious of a keyword phrase name. For me the comment would need to be good, not just relevant. By the way, you can do the same when you register at forums.
The problem I have with that is: Your name isn't "my widgets rule," I feel that when you comment on somones blog you shouldn't be "my widgets rule" you should be "YOURNAME" even if it doesn't help in link building.
Yes good advice. Also, make sure to check to see if the blog attaches the no-follow tag before wasting your time!
most of the blogs now adays do not accept comments to be added . however i have tried to comment it always says waiting for moderation and there are some plugins that takes our comment into spam. i dont know what next ?
I do agree with you to a great extent. An exception could be if the "name" you put looks like a legitimate nickname. In this case it could be "Widget Man" or something like that Well MSN, Yahoo and some other SEs ignore the no follow tag so it still helps out. Also if the blog gets traffic and it relevant to your site you will also get some traffic (which is much more important than PR value)
Maybe they ARE spam? All my comments get approved. That's because I try to put myself in the blogger's position and write something that will add value to his or her blog. I have never tried using a keyword as anchor text though, aren't those links always no-followed..?
think itl be spam.. for now it might not be.. but when people start doing this trick think google will know it
Its a cheap way of getting an anchor text backlink - I would simply not approve your comment, as would many other blog owners
the key thing is making the comment a good one. most webmasters understand that people make their "name" something relevant to their site. and they do not begrudge them a link if their comment adds to the content/discussion on their site.
I do that for quite a long time now, and you will be surprised how good those backlinks have served me. Most of you are right here, cause quality comments are the key to success in this particular trick.
True enough, I usually look at the comments which are already there and follow suite. If the majority of the comments are coming from "real" names then I'll use something like: "Jon from Project AdSense" That way it's still personal, but you get your keywords in the link. I also try to only link back to sites relevant to the blog. For instance if I'm at a sports blog I'll link to one of my sporting sites etc. Yes, always have something meaningful to say in your comment. I can't stand people who have meaningless comments, but links back to their sites.
Believe me, I understand the spam issue. But we're trying to build backlinks here, not make new friends to have coffee with. If 50% of my blog comments don't get approved, and the other half does, I feel that I've done pretty well. I don't agree with doing this if you have a site that some might find offensive...but if you need a link to your arcade site or your fishing blog...then why not go for it. Lots of blogs still just auto post the comment without moderation, so if you can find those, you'll have pretty good success. I'm glad that some of you have found this to be a helpful tip. Cheers.
i agree with you.i also just comment and dont analyse much and am getting gr8 results.thanx once again.
