If you were to run for office....?

I know that many of us don't feel perfectly well represented by people running for office. I myself, have what would be "liberal" views on our environment and respect for one another's differences, research and exploration, while I have what may be considered "conservative" views on bureaucracy, spending (although I don't think I'm well represented by anyone currently), and respect for the Consitution.

What would be your position on the various issues? Please explain

Please do not attack one another. Everyone has their right to their opinion.

National security would be my primary objective. Build upon our allies, try to clear up some persistent hostilities that are taking place, work to cooperate with other countries that want to cooperate, attempt to engage those who are hesitant and ultimately back away from those that are not.

Declare the victory against al qaida in Iraq, which many have (including Iraqis), and start preparing to get our guys home. Leave small, specialized contingents in place for a time to seek out terrorists. Same in Afghanistan. bin laden? He's obviously hidden away in his caves. Use intelligence, if he's spotted, blow him up.

Maintain our strong relationship with Israel, as opposed to some who would simply toss it out the window. Let Israel do what they need to protect themselves from the savages that surround them and believe killing them is their ticket to heaven.

Get democrats and republicans working together. Each have things they want to accomplish. Give and take. You help us here, we help you there. It may not get "everything" done, but getting "something" done through compromises on both sides is better than what we've had the past few years.

More money into our military to make sure they are never gutted again, like they were in the 90s. Use Reagan's principle of superiority through strength.

Make free trade...free trade. You want to do business with us, we do business with you. One for one.

    Refocus "Made in America" efforts.

Work to rebuild the dollar's value. I'm not an economist, I'd have to rely on someone objective and not partisan here, so I'd call up ReadyToGo.

Overturn the four day work week in Congress set by the democrats. How lazy. Politicians work for the people. I'd make a six day work week for them before ever giving into a four day work week. They are being paid well to do work for the people of this country. If they want a shorter work week, resign and go back to the private sector.

Shore up HUGE funding for Veterans and TAKE CARE of them this time. I'd cut budgets elsewhere, do whatever it took, but they would be a HUGE priority for me. If you serve our country and are not a US citizenship, one of my first priorities would be change our system on how US Citizenship is granted to our military members. It's ridiculous, that those who serve (and die) for our country, and are not full citizens, cannot automatically be given citizenship. You serve at least three years honorably, you ARE an American citizen, as well as your family (if I had my way). Congratulations and THANK YOU for serving.

Make border security a top priority. I'd be shifting a lot of money here, to look at the situation, our options, then get a plan together. Enforce our current laws. I'm more interested in getting the illegal "criminals" out of here first, then the guy who came here ten years ago and has been an otherwise productive member of society.

Work on reducing the deficit. It has grown. GWB has failed miserably here, as has Congress (both terms). Fiscal spending. With success in Iraq, bringing our troops home, and affording Iraq (at least for a while) supplemental funding to get their country going, refocus our efforts here.

No more ground troop wars. We don't need to. Our superiority is in the Air. Attack us? You get bombed back, hard, no mercy.

Lots of other things I'd do. There is no way, ever, that everything will be perfect, always. Ain't going to happen, no matter who is elected.

I'm reminded of an old saying: "It takes no effort to make an enemy. It takes a lot of effort to keep a friend." I can see that in so many things going on in the world today.

    Priorities

    1. National Defense. I would bring all of the soldiers home. From everywhere. I would help fund the restructuring of veteran's benefits, recognition and care by selling of military and extraneous diplomatic assets in foreign countries to their host countries.

I would also bolster the borders through manpower, better wages, technology and equipment. I would pressure our allies to the north and south to also commit to policing their borders.

Military wages, readiness, training, morale and equipment needs to be addressed, and this would also be a top priority.

Defense and veterans spending up, foreign aid and military expenditures securing other countries down, for a possible net gain of $200+ billion dollars per year.

I would also push for clarification of the 2nd Amendment rights for citizens to bear arms, for defense of themselves, their property, and in the event of terrorism or invasion, national defense.

    2. The Rule of Law. I would veto any piece of legislation that came across my desk that was not Constitutional. Where there was a need or demand for such, I would encourage both houses to begin the process of Constitutional Amendment to properly respect the foundation stone document of the republic. I would also issue executive orders to countermand any previous executive orders which where unconstitutional.

All Judicial appointments would be strict constructionists. I would not be averse to keeping the previous administrations postings, as long as certain levels of integrity were met. Partisanship has no place in the judicial system.

    3. The Economy. My first objective would be remove NAFTA, CAFTA and the WTO from the equation. Managed trade is not free trade. I would then issue a signing statement to authorize the Treasury to create and circulate Federal Gold and Silver notes. My third step would be to close down superfluous and anti-free market departments, such as the Department of Energy, the Department of Education, the Department of Agriculture, the National Endowment for the Arts, the National Endowment for Humanities, the US Commission of Fine Arts etc.

I would also privatize the United States Postal Service and Amtrak.

I would then begin the process of repaying foreign debt by privatization of significant portions of federal land to the citizenry, debt re-negotiation, and tariffs.

Lastly, the Federal Reserve Act would succumb to Section 31, and I would push for the act to be repealed. Constitutional Amendment pushed to prevent the creation of any central bank, and re-authorizing the Congress to control the creation of money exclusively by legislation and committee.

    4. Terrorism. Authorize Letters of Marque and Reprisal to seek out and destroy all terrorist enemies of the United State of America.

    5. Diplomacy. All enemy states currently under sanctions or censure seeking normalization of relations with the United States would have the full attention of both the President, and the State Department. Any foes who can be made friends and trading partners would be a tremendous asset to national security.

    6. Taxation. I would work to abolish the 16th Amendment, and make all existing government social programs opt-out rather than mandatory compliance.

    7. National Sovereignty. I would immediately withdraw from the IMF, the UN, and numerous other global agencies that require subsidization by the American people, and potentially limit our economy or legal system.

    8. Foreign Aid. All foreign aid would stop. To everyone. Citizens would be encouraged to donate, from their now untaxed (federally) income to causes domestic and abroad, based upon their own free market choices. No longer would the administration or House of Representatives have the power to be susceptible to foreign lobbies or corporations to spend taxpayers money, as that money would simply not be available.

    9. Pardons. I would pardon every citizen convicted of a non-violent drug use charge.

    10. Eminent Domain. I would push Congress for a Constitutional Amendment to ban the use of Eminent Domain and re-establish property rights for American citizens.

There is a lot more, but I've already ran on fairly long. If you want to read more, post a request and I will continue.

Hi Nate, yes we do. Guerilla made some good points too, though I find some very alarming. I believe we all have some common ground, somewhere.

I don't believe we have so much of opposing views, is that we support different candidates. I make no qualms about my disdain for RP. Perhaps after the primaries, and Huckabee claims the nomination, we won't have to deal with that aspect so much. With the "Nature Boy" Ric Flair and Chuck Norris in his corner, I'm hoping he'll continue to come out of the corner swinging :)

    (that's a jab...a funny!)

I've little interest in discussing Huckabee, but if you initiate a thread, I'd be happy to discuss his platform.

And likewise with Paul. If we can do away with who supports him, which fired ex-employee that now works for Giuliani has to say about him, and that he goes on Alex Jones' radio show, then we could probably stick to issues, and I would be interested to discuss the issues exclusively with you.

It's not as much about defending Paul (not my job), but that the debate sharpens my understanding and ability to convey the message to different criticisms.

Btw, I'd be interested to know what you found in my platform that was of concern.

Ron Paul and Huck should both unite against this current BS 2nd Amendment evaluation. I'll be content if Huckabee wins presidency, but not if he wins the primaries. It'll be a lot harder trying to win it with an outspoken Christian against what might be an even harder and more accepted candidate.. Obama.

I also believe in no mercy to terrorists, but we should start by not giving them an incentive. WE oughtta be the underdog and our citizens need to wake up and take responsibility.

I would open up the files on the jfk assasination files that wont be opened to the american people until 2029. i would then have our history books put in real history . The good and bad along with our meddling of third world countries for oil and profit. This is how we as americans can mend and start to trust the people we elect again, and begin anew. I want the democracy and freedom and justice that i read about and believed in when i was a kid. I want that innocence back.

I think that it was the KGB with help from the mob and Castro.

Oswald had defected to the Soviets and came back with a Russian wife.

The US government would have wanted to keep that secret or we would have had WWW III

I would also put National Security at the top of my list...after that, I would work to abolish the millions of pages of tax code and implement the Fair Tax...I would also veto every house and senate bill that came with pork attached.

Thers this son of a CIA agent, says his dad was the one that did it.

Apparently he hinted at it for years and admitted it on his deathbed. http://saintjohnhunt.com/
