It means make sure that your each web pages are easily indexed in Search Engines. Here is some steps to make your web page search engine friendly: Page Title The title of your web page should be relevent, short and describe the page content exactly. Try to target your main keyword first and then other related keyword. Make sure that all keyword are also related to page conent. Meta Tags Use the description and keywords metatags in the head of each web page. Make these tags different on each web page. The meta description tag and the meta keywords tag were proposed so that webmasters would have a consistent method for providing meta document data to user agents, such as search engines. Page Content Make sure the content of your web pages contain keywords & general phrases which user might search for. Be careful with the regularity of your keywords - you want to have them occur at least a few times if possible, but don't repeat yourself so much that the copy becomes unnatural. Heading Tags Heading tags are given more weight by search engines than regular body copy. So they should be used wisely to reinforce the page’s overall keyword theme. Further to this, here are the specific guidelines for creation of title, meta and other onpage tags: Title Tags - Should have up to 90 characters. It can go up to 120 characters but keep the lesser important keywords at the end and the most important keywords in the beginning. - Title should start with the keyword targeted for the page. If it is a big well-known brand then start with the brand name, else keep the company name at the end or don’t use it at all. - It should not be irrelevant to the page content and should be able to convey the message of the page. - It should be grammatically correct and make sense. Should still convey the message even if grammer is compromised. - It should not be duplicated from other pages of the website. Description Tag - Around 180-220 characters. It can go up to 250-275 characters but again important keywords and information at the beginning. - Description should start with the most important keyword, targeted for the page. - It should make sense to the user. - It should not be copied from other pages/URL of the website. Keywords - Around 200 characters. Can go up to 250 characters. - All relevant, related, mis-spellings and LSI keywords should come under it. - Commas should be used for seperating keywords - Again do not duplicate the keywords tags with other pages of the website. H1 Tag- Each and every page of the site should have its own H1 tag - There should be only one H1 tag per page of the website. - The H1 should contain the keyword been targeted for the page. All your SEO efforts totally depend on Keywords, so before doing anything make sure you have suitable keywords for your site to rank well in major search engines. Hmm, looks like a cut and paste job, do you own the copyright to that content? Aaron Wall's book is definitely a good starting point.
Just a quick addition - when writing your description tag have a keyword density of around 5% for your targeted keywords. Also try to get related keywords into your description. But above all make it human readable, its not just for google to read, but for your potential visitors and is one of the few places you can place direct advertising in search engine results without paying.
You forget, If you have the keyword in the anchor text in a link from another site, this is regarded as getting a vote from this site not only about your site in general, but about the keyword in particular.
A backlink is a vote for a page. An anchor text is vote for a keyword. Voted page add some 'voting value' to all other pages on the site. Example: 1. Wikipedia as a site has many votes, but particular pages have only few, but they still tend to rank high for appropiate keyword. Well, Wikipedia has special treatment in Google, so another example: 2. DP as a site has many votes, but single post, or a page with particular post has only few votes, but that post still tends to rank high for appropriate keyword, since he gets some voting power from the site as such.
