Why Not make the forum and INVITE only

That way when one scammer / spammer invites someone ( even themselves ) we can track who is inviting who?

whoever the jackass that left this red rep is, own up to it. you have no idea how DP works do you? none what so ever.
    DP works like this:
#1 everyone has a chance to submit Suggestions & Feedback
#2 dumbass requests get dumbass replies
#3 repeated Suggestions get reviewed, and are reviewed on merit. if you make a case for change of your user name you get it changed, if you make a case for a rule change you get it changed, i believe that i have made a strong case to have a rule change because it involves a bug issue and also a Mod issue so Mods are limited on banning dupe/clone/spam accounts because mods like members can not see them on the member list

#4 sending me a red rep costs you a - red too. i have 3000+ reps so you can't hurt my rep. only your own as it took a rep from you.

    have a nice day :)

... so, you want to place more restrictions on users, when it's obviously an issue with what moderators have access too ?

What's the difference between a post on the forum & a PM, if VBullitin logs the IP & email address of a user to the accout when they register ?
I've already explained how someone who wants to report a shady PM can give moderators a link to the questionable users profile from the PM itself. You better believe Administrators can lookup an account by name, if VBullitin didn't have an interface for it I'd still find it hard to believe there's not a single Administrator here at DP who knows how to read the database manually.

If action is taken without a questionable post or PM being made, people are effectively being considered guilty untill proven innocent. I suspect you believe the same, but are unaware that there are methods to handle this situation, you just don't know about, or have access to them.

    :D

i have been a member of DP for 3 years i think i know a lot more than you think.
the only person against this rule change is you, a member for 5 minutes with 41 posts. the other 10 members that also would like this rule change are all between 2,000 and 8,000 posts i rest my case :D

I've seen a couple of forums where there is a minimum post limit before allowing PMs and it works really well. It is easier to spot someone when they are required to make x number of posts first.

0 posts and PMing often means many just banned could sign right back up and continue "business" as usual. They tend to slip past the radar unless someone reports them.

I'm not as new as you think, look me up, I use the same name everywhere. ;)

Exactly, & people don't report them unless they were ignorant enough to be duped to begin with. How often do you see someone complain about being duped ?

your new here and thats what counts.

better learn the multi quote feature before you start collecting infractions for padding your post count.

cloned accounts banned in the last 2 weeks, and one i remember 2 days ago, and 10 others in the last 6 weeks.
how many more? who knows, they only start posting when they have been uncovered.
my 2 clones have been deleted lol i guess one of me is enough for DP my 2 clones were over a year ago and not to scam anyone, just to post to make me look bad because they didn't like what i called them.

I guess it comes down to what happens more often.

Do people get scammed more often ?
Or do people signup & make legitimate PMs more often ?

I think that would be a better metric than how many people agree to a proposal.
There's no sense in hampering the majority to help the minority.

If an administrator shows me data to support scammed people being the majority instead of legitimate PMs, I'll gladly shut my mouth & pat you on the back for the good suggestion. :D

Take a look at the types of posts I make in majority here & everywhere else, no competient administrator is going to ban me for "padding my post count" ! LOL

I replied, then noticed someone replied right before I hit the submit button & felt the need to address it, honest mistake. :D

I think this is an excellent idea and one which should be implemented.

The posting of 10 posts and 7 day period would drastically cut "pm spam" as well as free up some space on the digitalpoint servers even if they do delete them after a set time period :)
