Google's 2007 Q4 PageRank (PR) Update - 10/13/07

My site was dropped to PR3 and I noticed average PR of backlinks is lower now. It seems there is not any BL site whose PR was rised. But the stats on the top of this page shows 50/50. Is there something wrong? And, how does Google update PR without Bl update?

Even you're not selling links, the PR of your websites can drop too. It's simply because some of the backlinks pointed to your websites got PR lowered, and then so are your websites'. Remember that PR is propagated from links to web pages and notice the word "web" here. So even the most remote site you never got link from or link to can affect the PR of your websites, because we are in the same inter-linked web.

Some people are enjoying the fact that their PRs have increased, but I believe it won't be long until next update that the sites whose PRs have been lowered will drag every site down with them. That is why you see PR5, then PR3, and PR0 a couple of days latter. For upcoming minor and major PR updates, I believe Google will devalue every PageRank on the web.

If you ask me, all that we see the last little while is a natural consequence of the "devaluation" of PR and incoming links.
The way I see it, it's like the stock market. Once things get out of hand (bubble), then eventually there is a correction.

My site dropped from PR4 to 0. Due to paid posts, and TLA, it seems that Google is trying to stomp out other advertising avenues, anyone else find the same?

 

I saw some increases and decreases in pr of my websites; however, I havent seen much changes in the SERP or traffic log. I beleive the SERP is not changing much even with the latest PR update is due to the fact that Google PR is far from 100% accuracy and we all know how outdated it can be. The PR we are seeing now was prolly in Googles algo a long time ago, thus no immediate changes in the SERP.

 

I had about 15 sites go from pr0 to pr3 and pr4. Most of the sites were about 3 months old.

 

I have noticed a very recent Google PR update. More than 400 directories just dropped to PR0. I have updated the PageRank on Web-Directories.ws.

It is not anything specific to directories at all as I have 2-3 non-directory sites that were just reduced to PR0.

Yes one of my directories that recently gained PR, dropped back down to 0, and as you say its not exclusive to directories, also happend to a blog of mine.

Woot no change i noticed so far on http://www.mydirectoryrank.webdirectoryreviews.com/ which got PR of 4 on its first update.

or on http://www.webdirectoryreviews.com/ which got pr of 2 on this recent update.

No change on http://www.h-log.com/ or http://www.sbclansite.com/ , i suppose its just a aftershock google sends after pr updates

Now I understand,

I upgraded my hosting at mydeeplinks directory and it dropped back down to zero...I guess the hosting change had nothing to do with it.

who knows whats going on again...just have to wait and see.

coming back with PR not available at this time on the G bar so....
