heh, taking some heat from the mujahadeen and I didn't even know it Now where did I put that corn cob?
Why is it that everyone former administration officials only blame Bush and Cheney when they have a book coming out.
Hah. Another break in the veil of secrecy that envelops the secret workings fo the Bush administration at the very top. This leak suggests that the Bush administration was more interested in their version of why to to war against Iraq was more important than "truth" about hard data. Even as Armitage was the first to leak information, the trial brought out that both Libby and Rove made calls spreading information about Valerie Plame. It appears that the White House wanted to make sure it spread a story about potential nepotism rather than deal with the facts itself. It appears that the White House was more interested in spreading the fear of Iraq building nuclear weapons than acknowledging that the facts about this fear and the very data they were using to substantiate this fear were false. It appears that the White House couldn't give a rats @ss about threatening the sources of information and the secrecy of the CIA that is so vital to national security. Nice read. It will be interesting to see how this story develops.
and here is the excerpt from the book.... The author, Scott McClellan's bio from the book.... Hmmmm....senior long term Bush aide references that the President and his closest, most senior aides and the Vice President all lied. Nice group of leaders.......
WOW! You're so swift to ALWAYS justify and spin THE TRUTH when the TRUTH does not fit you agenda. Shameful.
It's funny how both sides use the 'book sales' argument. In fact when people from Clintons admin came out with books the republicans jumped on any little detail, yet the dems said it was 'book sales' Now the other way around it's swapped. Normally those on Bush's side would call this individual a great person, stand up him for anything. Had he come out with a book that was nothing but positive to Bush they would trump it. However since there are parts that are not positive it's gotta be about 'book sales' The political cycle continues, yet another disgrace that both sides pull when it's convenient for them.
Lorien posted the truth above. Armitage already claimed responsibility for the leak a long time ago. Not discounting the fact that Wilson actually outted his wife, himself, by listing her in a public "who's who" directory that anyone had access too. It will be interesting to see if anything, other than book sales comes of it. But one has to reconcile why someone's already claimed responsibility for it. Where does that factor into your equation? "Teasers" make book sales. That's what McClellan has released. A "teaser."
what is important here is not as much as who outed her but why? and who tried to cover it up? who lied and why is very important. and the fact that bush did not let libby go to jail is also important.
I just want someone to come out and say something true without having a financial interest in bashing the president.
Many have before, even those get spun to be because they were 'fired' or some other lame excuse. With this reasoning I guess anyone inside the current admin has a 'financial interest' to not say anything against him Can't have it both ways afterall. I guess we can not take anything from anyone currently being paid in the admin to be any fact at all.. Or anyone who made a statement while having a job for the adminstration no matter the time frame.
While the statement in the excerpt is certainly about book sales it strikes at the underlying reason why Bush's popularity is so low. The excerpt hits right at the jugular identifying that the top of the Bush administration lied to McClellan, one of Bush's most loyal long standing staff, and was lying to the public about its reasons for going to war in the first place. McClellan well knew what was going in the excerpt and he and the publisher well knew the impact it would have. The issue has always been about one person in the know, Joe Wilson, publicly identifying that the Bush administration lied to the public and the world about going to war against Iraq. The very reasons they used included ones that Wilson's appointment debunked. They wanted to create a huge fear environment. They didn't care about facts. They continued on to sabotage the career of a CIA agent. That strikes at the very foundation of intelligence. I'm sure career CIA personnel just hated the administration for the act in "outing one of their personnel". Basically, what could be more "traiterous" and ultimately ironic at a time when we admittedly had no great intelligence inside Iraq the Bush administration through a CIA agent to the wolves. While Armitage admitteded, and apologized for outting Valerie Plame, the ultimate court case identified with precision and timeliness how Rove and Libby spread stories about Valerie Plame being married to Wilson and planted tales that his mission was established via nepotism. The entire administration effort was to create a diversion against the real claim; that the Bush administration lied to the public. It will be interesting to see in the spring when the book comes out, how the Republican candidate for President portrays himself in terms of following in the beliefs and policies of Bush.
I don't know about you guys, but I have Bush fatigue. I just want the elections to go off without anyone declaring a state of martial law. I feel pretty confident that no Republican can win (except maybe Paul if he makes it that far), and that the Democrat (with the exception of Shillary) will be a little less heavy handed with the executive branch.
