I received an infraction for 'Sales trashing' at http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?p=5286989

I said "I suggest you put the sponsor links back." And my post got deleted and received an infraction.

I'm not complaining about the infraction i guess, but why was my post deleted? The template he uses IS a free template, and i KNOW that because a couple proxies I used to run had that template and there were sponsored links on them.

I don't know why stating that is no longer allowed.

    Wheres my proof you ask?

This should be in the footer:
And you can see for yourself by downloading the theme at http://www.proxythemes.com/proxy-themes-design/ (no demo, so you would need to download it and check the bottom of the index.inc file)

So why are you moderators so quick to hand out infractions? I would love to have a moderator go to the post where this guy is selling sites without that link, and repost what I said.

I know someones going to say "maybe its the same owner" Well, a quick domain whois shows there different people, so unless he has a multi-personality, and one of his personality lives somewhere else, thats not going to work.

the rule is pretty simple. If you are not buying/selling, don't post in a BST thread

So... When will this rule change? Maybe when someone buys a site and then they get a lawsuit against them a few days later, which could have been prevented by making a simple post? It seems like the most obvious sale trashing posts don't get reported, and then theres posts like mine which are polite and not actually ruining their sales, get reported.

If someone bought those sites that i said to put the sponsor links back on, The template designer can go contact the host and get his sites suspended. I don't think thats fair.

And how is 'Put the sponsor links back on' trashing a sale? The way I see sale trashing is "You idiot, those are free templates and you took off the sponsor links. Do not buy from this scammer"

Still I think he was doing the right thing.

I mean I wouldn't have wanted to go into that thread and buy one of the sites then get someone emailing me telling me they will file a lawsuit as I have taken off some sponsor links from a free template (which I wouldn't have known if it was not for killaklown's post). Not that I was going to buy one, I was just using me as an example.

that's the buyer's problem. He is the one who is responsible.

mod doesn't have time to judge who's right or who's wrong. You might be right that he is selling crap, or you might have some beef with that guy b4 and try to trash his sales.

So if i go on ebay and someone is selling an Xbox 360, Its my fault if I buy it and its actually broken, and that wasnt stated anywhere?

Edit: I just thought... Why isnt there a rant forum?

yea, why not? Don't tell me you don't research the seller before you buy stuff...

cause it is not necessary. If you wanna rant, start a blog site whatever you want, just don't do it here

It's offtopic, it's diverting attention away from the sale and the guy had to deliberately remove the links so you'd think he understood the consequences. In this instance I chose to delete the post. Other mods may have chosen to leave it there.

Anyone else have problems with posts in your threads... report them and let the mods take a look.

As for the due diligence argument - it's up to the buyer to ask the relevant questions. (is the xbox in working order? how do you pack it for shipping?)

I dont get you guys... Another infraction, why? because its in the wrong section.

I made a similar thread in the "suggestions & feedback" forum, I got an infraction for making the thread in the wrong forum, and it was moved to "general".

Now i make the thread in "general" and i get an infraction for being in the wrong forum and is moved to "suggestions & feedback"

What the hell are you guys doing? Its impossible to know what forum to write in now. You DP moderators (well most) are all infraction ______. (fill in the blank, didnt feel like saying it and getting yet another infraction)

If it wasn't for most members of this forums (and a couple moderators), I would have left DP long ago. I stay because the most members are nice and helpful.

I also notice now that the infractions are worth no points, but thats not the problem, the problem is that I'm trying to be helpful, and then Scammers and Cheats report me, and I'm the one gets penalized.

Atleast they were lovely little yellow infractions!

name and shame threads belong in the General Chat section.

Questions about the rules at DigitalPoint belong in "Suggestions and Feedback" which I guess should be called "Suggestions, Questions and Feedback" but that gets a big onerous.

Tell you what, if you're not sure you report your own thread and ask the mods to review. I don't give out infractions for posts reported by the poster :) I can't speak for the others though. You can alway fly us up to Whistler for a weekend "DP Mods Conference" ...

I know how you feel , but best to just leave it or live and learn from it.
Everyone gets infractions , some times for things that are crazy and that we should not of got one for, some times we get them and we do deserve one.

It takes 10 infractions to get banned for so long on the here, somtimes some people get a right of perm bann ( mostly scammers that are not welcome )

But put it this way if it was not for the mods , the mods that don't get payed a cent for there hours and forum moding they do on DP , then DP would be a dead place , just think who would wont to come on DP to see millions of scammers on here and millions of spam posts ect.

Let it go live and learn from it.
