Wordpress is very SEO friendly, plus as someone already mentioned, the cache is good for high traffic sites.
I've only used WordPress but the fact that I've never thought about switching from it must account for something. So I say WordPress. It has a large community and has been out there for a while, so customization probably won't be a problem at all.
Be a little adventurous and build your own But if youre like most of us, I put my hand up ford wordpress too, nice and easy to set up. For a full CMS though, id say drupal is the king
Why do you suggest coding your own blog software? I agree that it will be customizable, but WP is customizable as well. You can edit any of the code if you know what you are doing. If you use something like WP, you don't have to worry about coding all of the administrative and back-end stuff. You also don't have to worry about coding the back-end for user logins, multiple authors, editors, various user roles, RSS feeds, etc, and you can have your blog up in 5 minutes. However, there may be something that I am missing. Could you be more specific as to why coding your own is the best? I'm not trying to be rude, I'm just curious. BTW - I have used both Wordpress and Nucleus. While Nucleus was a very fun system to use, Wordpress is definitely a more developed, and more mature product. I would recommend Wordpress.
I am getting wordpress installed and going to customise it to suit my site. I would love to try my hand at writing my own, but I am only just getting to know the basics.
I have finally got my Wordpress article site up and running, and I am now seeking yet more advice! I have my wordpress set up as a sub domain for my main site http://cosmeticsfairy.co.uk/articles/ . The idea I have for this site is to post keyword related articles with backlinks to individual products in my store. I will be writing every article twice, once for my site, and another for article directory's. What I am after from you lot is some guidance as to what to do/not to do, and am I missing something? Once again thanks you for your time. Sarah.
Wordpress rocks. There is very good support for Wordpress and lots of add-on Widgets for just about everything you can think of. I also like Blogger as a free blogging platform.
I was not the one who suggested it. I was just agreeing with another poster's comment. Yes I would say that developing your own platform would be the best route, but only for those who have expertise and would know how to get exactly what they want accomplished. Not just anyone can do that (I cant). Everyone else, including me, WP
