I did a search on image ads and it seems that image ads are lower earning than text ads. However, those threads were started a long time ago. Are image ads better earning now than text ones, or perhaps similar in earning? I'm starting this website but much of the content on it is all text and no images. I thought it would be nice if I had only image ads being displayed to contrast the boring text. (And the fact that the background is a gradient, haha). Now, I remember a while back when Digg used Adsense, I'm not sure if they still do now, but all of the ads on Digg were sometimes text and sometimes image, but now they are all images. And I find that most large-traffic websites only have image ads. And I do like image ads because they are easy to blend with content, but if they are extremely low earning, like a cent per however many impressions, then I would probably reconsider. thanks.
Well I have been in this game for about 2 months now. What I can tell you that I noticed is that you earn more when someone clicks on the image ad or the text ad. I think both of them are equivalent. However, revenues are earned by page view through CPM for image ad. These earnings are significantly lower. So that's maybe why you got that impression that image ads earnings are lower. I am not sure if my facts are accurate. But that is what I have observed since my presence in the advertising game.
Strangely enough image ads work best for me. When I have a proxy up and running theres nearly always an add about a firewall or something as an image. I get about two times the revenue with one click.
I agree, but I also do use image-only ads on some of my websites. It depends how you can make it work. Sometimes images will get higher CTR than text, thus making more in the end.
Hi ... agree about text ads, that is, anchor links, these work best for my site. I've a couple of dopey, one-page sites filled with banner image ads and anchor link ads: only the anchor link ads generate revenue. That's my 2.5 cents of text. Good luck.
If your site get alot of click and low traffic the text ads is better(like article, directory sites..) If your site get high traffic and just a little click, the best way is image ads because this attracts visitors to make clicks.
Thanks everyone for the opinions. It certainly did raise my confidence about using all-image ads. I just didn't want to use all-image ads if I could be earning even more with the text ads. But if I can make them work, I don't see why not.
I think text ads are better overall and seem to work better, plus i think image ads look tacky, Will.
i think using text ads will most likely make your visitors adsense blind, not with image ads, coz now days image ads are seems very animate, and sure can attract visitors
I think both are as good as other, only that with Image Ads we get an extra benift that, we will be paid for each impression as well.
that is not correct, image ads pay per click only. however, site-targeted cpm ads could be mistaken for image ads, and they do not pay by the click. so if you turned off site-targeted ads for your account, but enabled image ads in the ad block, you'd never see any cpm earnings... it would all be epc.
Text ads is suite for me. Long time ago, I have ever use image ads because I think it's interest than text ads but the result is image ads pay very low from that experiment I never back to use image ads again.
I prefer texst images, because it blends with the content of the website, plus it also ads addicional web content but since image ads are more bigger then text ads, for example a 336x280 text ad can get up to 5 differnet types of text ads in one block. Image ad takes the ad block by only 1 ad. So that ad has to be paid for them the text ad, so if some1 clicks on the image ad and some1 clicks on the text ad, the image ads will bring you more revenuw then any of thouse 5 text ads. So there is advantage and disadvantege. Image ads gives more revenue, but one block can only have 1 ad. text ads give less revenuw then image ads, but can take up to 5 different ads, so the viewer can have more freedom to choose a content ad the he might get interested. I prefer text ad, thats a personal choice since the user can have more choices, plus gets me more web content for my websites and blends it well hope this helps SurfProxy Insurance
I have tried with text ads in the past but didn't get good result but now image ads are working better for my sites ;-)
Text ads works well. Most of Visitors think images with animation or flash are meant for advertisements. But text ads resembles as they are the part of the website content.
Sometimes you get money from image ads just for impression (without click). But in general, text links make more money.
