Quality of Threads in this Section is CRAP?

I have to say I read this section of the forum every day - for the comedy.

The general standard of threads/posts in this section is by far the worst on the internet.

There are some very knowledgeable members - but most are CRAP!

    Flaming expected :D

You should read other parts of the forum. They seem a bit better.

maybe you only read selective threads. I see many well round people and threads, every place has "those people", its normal :)

I wonder how they became like this. I agree with you - they are truly crappy. A year ago they were much better, and then everything went downhill when the pagerank did not update as it should have..

A lot of threads are very repetitive.

But if you think the quality is crap... start your own better quality threads!

Ya, why do you think so many people keep repeating threads over and over? "Pagerank" threads seem to come up all the time.

well I thought the post today about traffic generated from Google v's other SE's was a real eye opener. I also learnt something about blog pings so not everyone is totally bored.

I do believe there is too much talk about page rank, but then anything that gives any sort of rating is gonna get people yacking. I ignore posts about pr because I don't believe it has any bearing on my SE positions, but others want to know more...

You think this is bad, go into the Ad Sense section and watch people complain about how they got banned for clicking their own ads... or go into the Politics section and check out all the Muslim religion bashing regardless of the thread title. The thread title could be called, "Let's all be friends and exchange pie recipes" and there would still be an argument in there against Muslims.

However, if something bothers you, ignore it instead of making a post about it to boost your post count. It doesn't make you any better than anyone else.

I agree with Wealdie. There are only about three forums here at DP that I can stand to read any more: Google, Blogging, and Directories. Even in these forums, the ratio of absolute crap to anything interesting is about 25 to 1.

I'm not sure why it's happened but the quality of DP has slipped badly in the past couple of years.
