The US does not occupy Saudi Arabia. Show me exactly where in the 911 report is says that. Diplomatic relations with Saudi Arabia were established in 1933. Never during then and now has the US occupied Saudi Arabia. EDIT: By the way, I am even registered as a Republican. I want Republicans to have the goals we had when Bush first entered office. He promised of a balanced budget, limited government, etc. Which I love, I want the national debt slashed, government out of my life, etc. But these damn crazy neocons have this bloated government trying to pry its way into my life with these national ID cards and such, stay the hell away![/quote] Nice try.. And I saw a pig flying yesterday...
Okay, occupy was a bad word choice, but we had troops stationed over there. I don't think we moved them out until 2003 or 2004, and where did they go? Oh, next door to Qatar big move.
We moved them out in 2003 when we entered Iraq. The reason they were there in the first place is because the Saudi Government asked us to come there, paid us in fact... To get Saddam the hell out of Kuwait.. How soon we all forget..
Great, but it wasn't the Saudi government who attacked us. Bin Laden and a lot of the Islamic community did not want the US over there in the Middle East, specifically Saudi Arabia.
No, but there were 15 Saudis involved in the attack. The Islamic community did want the US in the Middle East. Again, they asked us to come there. Lest we forget... Denial
I know it was mainly Saudi's who attacked us... But we said we would leave the Middle East once Iraq was no longer a threat, but we remained, and we were attacked several times because they were growing irritated of our presence. The Muslims thought we were tarnishing the soil because of our non-Muslim troops being there. We tried to get bin Laden in the 90's but he left Saudi Arabia easily and went to Afghanistan, where he was housed by the Taliban, who received support from the Saudi Government. They wanted our help and we helped, and then stayed after we said we would leave, we over stayed our welcome. This made them mad because of our BAD foreign policy and this is why we were attacked. We need to change our horrible foreign policy.
Something tells me you did not read anything I said.. Yeah, it's all our fault that we were attacked... And it was that Saudi chicks fault for being a women that got her raped.. I like the way you think!
Then we are in total agreement. Our government under Clinton was entirely to blame for the attacks. Now that we have a new foreign policy which includes preemptively avoiding war, we have not been attacked. Good point!
US occupied Saudi Arabia? Are we talking about the very same universe or some parallel universe, just curious. So they should have taken the issue with Saudi King, who asked and invited US army to help them.
Ok with everything but the preemptive wars, we would not need to resort to preemptive wars if we did not have this foreign policy. We need to get out of the Middle East period. Those that think it will cause chaos, are the same ones who told us that the war in Iraq would be a "cake walk". We need a foreign policy of non-intervention and no nation-building like what Republicans use to stand for before the Neocons. Preemptive wars are caused by dictators with blind force, military force should be used only in self-defense. And yeah, we haven't been attacked because it is so much easier for them to attack us over there where we have lost many soldiers. I know I'd rather play a home game against a tough enemy. Is this preemptive war not enough of an attack on us? It can potentially cost us TRILLIONS of dollars and thousands of more lives of our own and of other nations who are innocent. Where do we draw the line and say that enough is enough when we can't even clarify who the enemy is? A foreign policy of preemptive wars and nation-building is ridiculous.
First off, I corrected myself earlier. I meant to say that we had troops stationed there. -Like I said earlier when it was over we didn't leave. -This pissed them off because it is seen as Holy land in there eyes, Saudi government ignored them. And you should know by now that Middle Eastern politics are completely irrational and we should not even put our nose into it. We have enough to deal with here.
USA is not the greatest threat to world peace. In fact the reason the world is some what stable is because of the USA.
He lives in a little place called reality.. Come join us.. It is warm, sunny, the beer is always cold and the women are always hot!
That sounds more like Florida than reality The US is a declining empire now... kinda like the British empire in the 30's.
