My six year old desperately wants his own web site. Obviously I can make him one. I think what he really wants is a blog to share his jokes and stories. Is this a good idea or bad, do you think?
If you think he can handle it, then give it to him. Be sure to monitor him. My sister got into the internet and The Sims big time when she was 5 or 6. She's now 9, and it has not negatively affected her.
Sure, Just make sure you give him examples and share some of your experience so he is on the right track and stays safe. And teach him internet safety and all that good stuff, I think it would be great!
Lol .. nice idea , btw 6 years old and will have his own blog ? what would happen when he turns out 20 ... own the web ?
Yes, his first class in kindergarten was computers. Back when I had to ride a dinosaur to school we had our very first computer science class ever my senior year. Our classroom had 4 Trash-80s from Radio Shack if any other old timers are on here they probably know what I'm talking about! Now my 6 year old has his own computer -- even if it is a hand-me-down laptop.
I'd say thats a nice idea. Gives him something to do that your interested in as well. Just you'd need to monitor what was going on. Keep people from commenting with anything you don't want your son to read.
Make sure he/she doesn't post too much information... Things on the internet can live forever, and come back to haunt you...
I think you should not allow the blog to show responses. Just let him share his thoughts and jokes. He can use other means to communicate with people he knows, friends and family. I wouldn't let him open his blog up for just anyone to respond. IMHO
Yeah, just make sure you have the password and sit by him/her when they want to do something. I think you have to be 13 to sign up for anything on the Internet.
