Alright, to get this right do a search at Google as follows:

example... for me I just did (hair "category editor" site: dmoz.org) without the parenthesis of course and it listed a couple other categories I didn't think about with actual "editors" this time around... might work for some of you still looking for a way to get in to the coveted DMOZ.

    yourkeyword "category editor" site: dmoz.org

Very helpful and cuts down the time to find an REAL editor. Good luck.

You just undelined that contacting editors does not speed up any changes, just pees the editor off. Changes can be notified by using the update button, but if you want changes which simply stuff your description or title with key words, then don't waste your time or editor time, it won't happen. I delete 70% of all updates I look at because they think the description should be a magnet for their site. We are trying to tell people what the site is about and what they will find there, so they can decide if it is what they are looking for, and "the hotest, cheapest chips on the net" does not do that, because we can't check that out:rolleyes:. Updates are for if the site changes significantly, has a new URL, the company has been taken over and has a new name, but not to add hype or because you don't like the desc written.

My solution to all the adult problems is easy. Dump adult and all the editors and I have said it before so its not a new comment. Now keep up gworld, don't let a little ban obsure your thinking.:D

My comment has nothing to do with corruption, just don't think we should be listing porn, sorry if that would remove your sites and if it removes your hypothesis.

Don't be so scared. You are anonymous, they can't remove your editor account if you stand up for something for once in your life. Anybody looking at my previous post, clearly showing the corruption, can see how ridiculous your post is when you try to deny it. :D

Sorry, gworld, you just make yourself look stupid trying to put words in people's mouths that are not there. I will repeat my comment.

I would dump Adult because I don't believe we should be listing porn. I have never tried to evaluate our Adult sections because I would simply like to dump them. Now will also repeat that might give you problems with your sites and also not have much to bleat about, but you should find something else to think about, is porn the only thing on your mind appart from seeking to constantly jibe at ODP about its Adult sections?

You really do sound like an ex-editor, especially ex adult editor. One who got thrown out.

I can say being an editor at ODP, albeit not a VERY active one, that I do not mind if a submitter sends me feedback. I either read it and respond to it or read it and delete it and I can tell you for sure that Annie felt the same way.

Something I have always been curious about is that if ODP doesn't want submitters to contact editors, why do they make the feedback link available to the public?

I do the same, threebuckchuck, if it's a polite enquiry.

    Exactly. :)

I think the advise to not respond to submitters is probably meant more for new editors who have limited knowledge of the Directory, and though there are legitimate fears of being threatened by submitters, I've never had it happen myself. It's best to speak to an experienced editor though, if you have a question, and a submitter wouldn't be able to get that kind of info.
