SEO service... should I or should I not

I purchase some SEO work to to be done on my 2 sites from a DP member. As of today, this member has 876 posts and 15 iTrader.

Upon agreement, I would pay a one time payment of $200 each site. Now I paid $250 out of the $400 in advance. I order this service on September 7, 2007. This DP member told me the jobs would be done within 30 - 45 days. So that would put in between October 6 - 21, 2007.

Well its November 16, 2007 and only one site has been SEO. And that is only because I posted a bad review on the DP member thread. I deleted it once the one site was SEO. He promise the other site would be SEO by today. But yet, the promise has not been fulfilled.

So my question is, once the other site is done... should I pay the remanding balance or not?

What does your contract say? If it says the work is to be completed by a certain time, then the user is in breach of contract.

Disclosure: I own an internet marketing company that specializes in SEO and PPC management.

What does the service order, terms, and contract say though? Didnt you have to sign any documents? Have you heard from them since (westernunion is commonly used to filter/scam money) the one site was finished.

Usually western union is used by scammers. Only use WU if you have delt with the person several times already. Can you post the guy you hired, so we cannot make the same mistake.

EDIT: I did a quick search, and "wildstone" resembled your description. Correct?

That's all the documents I have.... however, Western Union was asking like additional $20 as the service is not in US money. I switch to Xoom which was only asking additional $7.

Yes, I talked to the DP member earlier... they say the site will be done within 3 hours. That was at 2:10pm CST.

I am not sure if there is much you can do except give him a bad iTrader. Seems to me if the promised date was 30-45 days, he has passed that point. He has broken his commitment to you. I guess if he did one site and it was done correctly, luckily you only loss $50. I would ask him to refund you the $50 since he did provide the $200 service. Not sure you have much other recourse besides revealing him to the rest of the DP community.

Nice site by the way. I just did a keep check on the backlinks, and your site only has 50 backlinks. Considering that must of them lay on non-related sites and with no pagerank. This site has no chance to rank well for a good keyword.

That is totally unacceptable. Do not send him any money. Just glancing at the site now, I notice that your site is not SEO friendly whatsoever. Drop him, reveal him, and get a new SEO.

Sorry to hear. That's unfortunate. Just for future knowledge though, anyone who is guaranteeing results in SEO is already bogus. We have no control over search engines so it's impossible to guarantee anything. SEOs just take their current knowledge and expertise of what works from experience, optimize pages, and hope for the best.

You have very valid points. There are way too many services be offered with promises they can not deliver. You see them all the time fer SEO, Digg front page, and more. It is better to hire an honest person who offers you expertise than to hire someone full of promises.

To the OP: sorry to hear the problem but hopefully at least the site he did do was ok for you. Next time ask around to the solid members of DP on who they recommend for SEO service. Word of mouth is better than false promises. Good luck in getting your money back.

I thought I did hire I honest person... man it really ticks me off. You know what, the SEO work he did for my other site sucks in my opinion. But, its better than what it was. It was not worth $200. However, the way xoom is setup up... I cant get my money back unless he refunds me back.

Yeah thats what I am curious. I was idling on this thread as It was interesting but had some other things to do in meanwhile. You say the guy will SEO the site, but what I really want to know is about the report he has sent to you. What SEO has he done for you? For what keywords is the site optimized?
