Blogs generally have a higher ctr than a forum. I'm not sure - probably because forums tend to have a ton of repeated visitors.
blog gets a higher ctr because a visitor will visit a max of 10 pages while browsing a blog on the other hand he will visit 50 pages on forum and hence the ctr lowers for a forum as the same visitor might browse forum for a long time
Forums are notorius for low CTRs. Many reasons why. Here are some: Same repeat traffic, they learn to dismiss the ads. Forum traffic has a tendecy to what to browse and read, not click on ads. To get high amount of clicks you need lots of pure traffic and great placement of ads.
yeah, on forums you won't get too many NEW visits because they keep on returning and posting there. clicks from same IP aren't too well paid so that's why blogs tend to earn more $$$
A blog and a forum each has it's strengths in making money. If you set up the forum like I do, the potential for making money is vastly increased. Yes the click through rate is pretty bad but if you have returning members and a lot of them, you can sell "Member Ads" like I do. If you want some tips for Monetizing blogs, you can read about that in one of my articles: Monetizing your Blog We have a few other gems lying around as well as a resource forum for making money in anything. Blogs can blend adsense better than forums, plus people are looking around and can't really interact like they can with a forum so that helps too. Like I said, forums can do well with custom ads, imagine how much people would pay to have their "webmaster site" on the side of the DP forum! A lot more money than can be made from adsense. Hope this helps Best
They used to make $10,000 a month according to the new york times: http://www.nytimes.com/2006/01/16/technology/16ecom.html
You would have to see my forum listed in my signature link. It is the two sides with "Member Ads". You can basically sell links, advertising, banners, etc in a slot to members of your forum instead. It's not automatic but it's an alternative! Best
i think also that same visitors often ignore the ads. iam not sure why but ppl surfing on blogs just click more than on forums. its like different kind of users itself.
