Hey man, I think i am the only person affected badly. I am seeing 75% drop in my revenue. I am wondering whether before this change 75% of the clicks are accidental? That is the case google's Q4 result will be affected. Anyone's revenue dropped more than 50%?
The ads on my sites have changed as well but no change in CTR. Why would people click on text instead of a link? I'm curious what the change will do the next couple of weeks.
Well I think it's a good idea by good, no more accidental clicks for sure and hopefully the cpc will raise as advertisers will start to realize the greater importance of adsense and advertiser confidence will raise.
Yep ads have changed on a good number of my sites. CTR is down about 60% so far today. Glad I don't have all my eggs in one basket
Ahh, how many baskets do you have then? If your CTR is lower, then your ECPM is lower as well, right?
My earning have literally doubled since this took affect on my websites. Started about 4 days ago for me
So far my CTR has dropped very slightly, but there hasnt been enough time passing to really tell anything about it. redgsr - this took affect on your sites 4 days ago? Hmmm it just started on mine last night
my ctr dropped nearly 40% but cpc increased like 2.5 times than before, anyone notice? did they take away smart pricing? I have no complain if the cpc will stay at that level. At least it give me more motivation to work on the site and get more clicks when i am not getting penny clicks.
As with any other aspect of statistics and numbers it is too soon to make any correlations with CTR etc and the recent changes. There are a lot of variables that affect those numbers and they change from day to day. Earlier I said that my CTR had dropped slightly but now (I just checked again) my CTR is around the normal range as is my eCPM In my opinion if these changes cause you to get a lower CTR in the long run then you must have been getting a lot of accidental clicks (not speaking to anyone in particular - just a general statement)
A lot of people will attribute any changes they see, either positive or negative, to the new format. Most of us know that our CTR and other stats fluctuate normally. It is too soon to make a call about how the new format has affected us.
Yesterday my earnings dropped 40%, then I went to the Adsense forum and saw what they did. Today I have recovered most of my income. Here is all I did..... I changed the colors of the ads so that the ad Title and URL are the same exact color, and I changed the non-clickable text color to a much less outstanding color. So now the Title and URL stand out. So far this has seemed to do wonders towards recovering my ctr. Yesterday I watched as all 8 of my blogs ctr went downhill, I was banging my hear against the wall wondering if there was some catastrophic event taking place because I hadn't made any changes to any of my blogs. With me being out of work because of the Hollywood writers strike, this is my full time income now. Anyways, so far so good with the changes I made to the ad colors. But still isn't all the way back to where it was.
it's bad move for us definetely. i was counting on the fact that people might clicks ads by mistake. i even tried to make them like they're part of my website, but these are really bad news. still my income is just less with about .50$ ... not too much i'd say.
