I know some people post on DMOZ Resource or whatever, but I've heard you can get in trouble for asking about the status. Is this true that you'd get in trouble? If so, is there any way to check on status?
No, it isn't quite true. If you ask at Resource Zone, we'll tell you we've tried it there, we found it to be unbenificial, and we no longer do it there, so, that's a forum policy, and you shouldn't ask there. Are editors allowed to give a site status report? Yes, they can, as long as they reveal nothing about what's in the editors notes or what actions were taken by any specific editor. Will an editor give a site status report? Some will, some won't, it depends on the editor. Will it help me to know my status? Absolutely not. It won't get you listed faster, help you become listable, or draw attention to your site. In fact, it raises further questions that will not be answered, and invites debate and arguement.
You haven't asked the question. I'll offer something, submit the site to your locality (city) in the Regional section of the Directory. (if you have a walkin business) If you submitted it elsewhere, then it's probably awaiting review.
You are supposed to submit and forget... thats what I did, two years ago. I still check myself once in a while but I don't try holding my breath for fear of turning nine shades of purple...
You have to find a senior DMOZ editor to do this for you, may be as a part of their "SEO work" package and they can list you at the same time.
R u talking about DR aka Dmoz Resources , well i have seen only those get in trouble who try to buy their way into dmoz via scriptlance latest example : http://www.dmoz-resources.com/zone/showthread.php?t=576 Other than that, i have only seen happy faces, and few even coming back after months saying "whoohoo i am finally listed" be it coincidence or whatever, but those who are eligible for listing get listed eventually sooner or later. So i do not see how you can get into trouble for asking for status check. As long as you follow rules of the forums itself.
Either the guy who listed what section he wants to get listed in scriptlance and then asked the same question in your forum is total moron or the whole thing in your forum is just a game to make a point. I am surprised that you posted that link since It seems to show that your forum has gone from being useless to becoming a tool in the hand of DMOZ editors.
Do i sense bitching out of you gworld just cause i do not want to be part of dmoz bashing no more ? dont u have things better to do , like say "more bitching at dmoz" maybe? Than throwing stones at my site? Go run ur adult websites and be happy with what u have and let others live in peace for once. if someone wants to make stupid posts at my forums and get in trouble its not my fault, that they are stupid enough to go against dmoz policies. Life is a bitch but one has to keep moving forward. So keep ur politics in ur pants.
Do you think you are the first person who has come up with this bright idea that a way to get a listing in DMOZ is may be by kissing some ...?
Totally useless contribution by u gworld to this entire thread, is this case of maybe thread hijack? Anyways i will let ur fantasies run wild. I wonder why u try to poke everyone u see on the street gworld ?
And what was your contribution, except another link bait to your "forum"? Was this link number 1001? It seems that is the only reason you even post in this section.
Damn u caught me, baah, its called free advertising. An art every webmaster should master. And to be frank i will not deny this but Rob (anon), motivated me, by his shameless and smart plugs too, as its not against DP guidelines. So instead of breaking rules, its better to flow with them for ur own benefit.
Thank you for clarification that it is called free advertising since until now I just thought that it is a simple case of spamming.
Np anytime, i like to be frank than go behind someones back and lie and d (some d word i kinda forgetting or not thinking right (its 2 am already) goes there).
