'Nother question: Several people have suggested taking free submissions. I'm sure this will bring more submissions, but will this really increase traffic, and will it ultimately bring more revenue?
Traffic yes. There are hundreds of people who want a free backlink rather than paid, thats why they will visit your site. As for revenue, i dont think it will improve by turning free.
Increased traffic does not mean more revenue, you might try being part of directory ranking maybe you might get few extra hits. Not sure how but here are the stats for the same, its shocking....
Ok, I enabled a free option, but am asking for a reciprocal to a third site... is this considered poor etiquette as a directory owner? Just curious as to what opinions are... Thanks!
What is your long term vision for the directory ? With the free stuff have you limited it to say the first 3 entries into a catagory ? or is it open slather ?
That's a good question. Is there a way with PHPLD to limit the number of free submissions in each category? Or is this done manually? We kind of launched this as an experiment... but once the site hit PR5 I started wondering if the site could be come profitable. The site is grossing about $10 a day in submissions. If I could double or triple my submissions, it might be worth hanging onto, but otherwise I should sell it, as I don't really have time to nurse an unprofitable site - not one as unoriginal as a general web directory.
Q1. i am not sure ? but many say first X is free type thing As for unoriganal as a general directory, it's all romours
I believe most users have brought up some points that you should take into consideration, other than that I wish you good luck with your project. Meti
