I wanted to know if we can copy content from other sites and publish it on our site and then specify the site name in the source. will it be copyright infringement or it is allowed?

I don't think it's allowed, and it's also against the Google AdSense rules.

google will penalize you somehow, but i've heard that it's ok to copy things from wikipedia, because they have infos for free there. you can also post a link like "source from wiki" and you'll be fine.

If you have to come here and ask then something is telling you it does not feel right.

If you want to use the information ask the owner, done properly and with a one way link to their site they may be willing.

    Peace!

Several websites do that. I know you must have seen that on other sites. They may have copied with or without permission.
    Why copy and link ?
make the content look like your own

it is a copyright violation and against Adsense TOS.

linking is not enough, you need the permission from the owner of the content.

i dont think adsense would ban you for this ,
rather you would be penalized by google in serps

@ all those who replied above
how will adsense know who violated whom there would be a max of 500 employees in adsense arm of google and they wont waste time doing this

There is an AdSense spider similar to the Google spider, I'm sure they could add the duplicate content detection to both spiders.

You might be able to contact the webmaster of the site you are copying information from. If it is alright with them then everything should be fine.
