Do you guys think this is a good or bad move from adsense? My CPM seems to be way down today - and I'm not sure whether its because of this or something else.

Hmm. Just noticed it into effect on my sites. Pretty cool. I wonder how this is going to effect the total amount of clicks we send.

I suppose it IS going to reduce invalid clicks, which will in effect make earnings higher..

I just blogged about it. I think it's a good thing. It'll reduce smart pricing/invalid clicks, which in the long run will have a positive effect. Depending on how your ads are placed, this shouldn't be that big of a problem (for those with super blended ads in sneaky places, this will hurt them. For those with AdSense in the side bar and such, I don't see a problem).

My CTR hasnt changed noticeably yet. I also think that this was a good move by Google, at least that is my first thought, we will see how it goes in the future.

I think it's good, i never liked those that try to trick clicks and wish them burn in hell. Less revenue for sneaky publishers mean more revenue for honest publishers like us.

Incase someone's too lazy to click on the link and read what this is all about:

Google is changing the clickable area of their ad units, which may affect your ad performance in the near term.

Google is restricting the area that a user can click on within an ad unit. Instead of being able to click on the entire ad unit, the publisher can now only click on certain areas, such as the title and the URL in the ad. The change is designed to reduce the number of erroneous ad clicks. The result may be a reduction in CTR (click through rate) in the near term, although the quality of clicks should now be higher.

Yes..i am already affected. I would be happy if its not affecting more than 20% of the clicks. Infact it is good move by the google, it will surely affect the small publisher who put tons of ads with less content. Advertisers would be very happy..they will spend more money for each keywords,,i feel the CPC rate will be increased soon.

My CTR dropped more than my eCPM, but both dropped. CTR hasn't been this low in a long time, but it's still not a huge drop. So it's noticable, not fatal. I like the change, it adds more legitimacy to adsense. It'll be a good thing in the long run.

Good thing in the long run how so? More advertisers or what? My eCPM also dropped, but I'm sure it'll go back to normal soon.

I hadn't noticed the change until now!
Now they seem less like ADs and more like regular links except for the Ads BY Google thing

    Why? For preventing accidental clicks?

I have the new style on my sites. Surprisingly enough my earnings/CTR/eCPM all don't seem to be really affected, still earning about $75 daily, but i'll have to wait to about end of the month to really see what these changes do to earnings.
