This woman you may remember...she was gang raped and then ordered to receive 90 lashes because the court said she had put herself in the wrong place. Now the court more than doubled the lashes because she went public to the media...what is going on in Saudi Arabia? http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=071115145104.rykb7bub&show_article=1
Goddamn it. Somewhere in this milieu, at any moment in time: someone's sister, or mother who gave birth to us all. Sickening. Depravity. No other words.
Everyone knows that Saudi Arabia follows strict Sharia law, and it forbids a woman to wander alone with unrelated man. So according to that country's law, she was at fault. The Good news: Her attackers and rapists have been sentenced to jail terms. And she didn't get stoned to death. The Bad news: You or me can't do anything about it...
I bet that definitely cuts down on false rape accusations. I've long been a proponent for sentencing false accusers to the same sentence as the accused. Ya better be right before ya send some guy up for 20 years.
I'm probably gonna get some flak for this, but perhaps the towels are wrapped too tight? I'm trying really hard to understand this culture, but things like this make it very difficult to be tolerant.
I hate to say this, but aren't we really good pals of the Saudis? Don't they come here and own lots of property, hang out with our highest level politicians and cavort with the leader of the free world? You can't be outraged about this if you aren't outraged that you condone it with your votes and tax dollars. Because in a very small way, we are all complicit in these crimes.
Who are "we?" Allies of convenience? If this were done in America, wouldn't you be the first to blame America for it? Somehow, there is an awkward irony there. Every thread, in every way, there is a way to blame America
Yes, this makes perfect sense to me - we should make it hard as hell for a woman raped to come forward with reporting an act she should be ashamed happened to her in the first place. Beyond the implications of what you are saying - which I cannot stomach, in truth - you are aware this woman will be forever scarred, in so many ways, because she committed the sin of being in the car of an unrelated male, right - not making a rape accusation? I really don't understand you or your views.
Oh God... She have been raped and still she's going to suffer with 200 lashes? Poor girl... well, that's their law... we can't do anything about it...
The rags are wrapped too tight and there is no blood flowing to the brain. Doesn't women rights mean anything to you?
She also received 6 months in prison http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20071116/ap_on_re_mi_ea/saudi_justice
Saudi Arabia strikes again. 200 lashes and 6 months in jail for being raped. My simple brain cannot understand how this is possible. And that is just not something I say. I really cannot understand it. At first glance the Saudi wahhabi sunni-islam laws are made by insane people.
Don't worry, I already got 200 lashes for making it.. Good thing I am not a women, it would probably be a beheading or something.. What Saudi Arabia needs is more Jews...
