Hi!, my domain is francescjosep.net, it's pretty long but I got PR4 on the last Google Dance. I'm thinking about change it to something shorter, but if I do, I would have to start collecting links and stuff to get good PR and good Techonarti Authorithy (over 200 in my long domain) again. So, what I should do? PD: Love this forum
It's from catalonia, a name so for most of my visitors is not hard to remember Francesc Josep = Franz Joseph, two names only any more advice?
go for a short domain if you are really interested than cause you can build the pr from the scratch again and you can forward the traffic of that long domain to the new shorter domain so that you will not loose your visitors. but if u stick with your long domain you won't be able to change it but with ur lil work pr can be changed so my suggestion go for a short one and yes ur current domain is a bit hard to remember. hope it helps a bit
no el canviis, no l'han de recordar els angloparlants >> don't change it, it doesn't need to be catchy to the english speaking surfers
If you keep your old domain and forward to a new domain, you might want to do a 301 redirect instead of forwarding or redirecting by some other method. According to a google employee on the Google Groups Webmaster Help Forum "301s pass PR and related signals appropriately. Usually takes a couple of weeks for things to smooth out, though". I found this site useful for more information on 301 redirects.
shorter domain and redirect that domain to the new one. or use short domain to redirect to francespcxzijoseph [sorry i already forgot your domain name and i'm to lazy to scroll up]
